They said if the grinding noise persists, they could take the ABS fuse out and it wouldn't make that much of a difference in the winter time, braking. That would be so much cheaper. I'm also getting a jerking sensation when my car is stopped at an intersection for too long. It's as if someone hit your car from the back, but at the same time, you put it in park so it comes to a halt. No "check engine" lights though.
The other thing I noticed is that when I start the car and turn the wheels left or right, I hear a grinding noise. The guy checked it out and is saying that it's a common noise with these cars...I don't know if I should believe that...The power steering fluid and tranny fluid is fine though.

Id just take the fuse out brakes will still work ABS just wont engage when you slam the brakes which just allows you to steer while braking.
Noises when you turn could be a couple things nothing major ball joint or bushings it could be the rack and pinon my brother had to do his. I'd drive it to the ground and save as much money as you can.

That sounds good. I heard these cars are pretty sturdy, some even going to 400,000KM. I just don't want problems for the next three years while I am in school...at least not from September to end of April.

When you turn and hear the "grinding" noise are you travelling slow and turning tightly?
I had a car with what I think is a similar issue and it turned out to be the CV joint.
As for the coolant just keep an eye on it and make sure it doesnt drop below the minimum.Last edited by keefy; 09-01-2012 at 05:25.

Correct. Is is exactly what you are describing. But they raised the car at the shop and found nothing..they kept saying these cars are common to make these noises..he even opened up the hood for me, and as he was turning, I could hear the noise coming from there. I hope they're not trying to fuck me with last minute stuff. It's not fair when strangers fuck you in the ass, Larry.

Idk triple D CV axles are easy to check see if there is a rip in the boot which I'm sure they did. Sounds like rack in pinion if they didn't drive it they wouldn't know by just lifting it and if its not leaking then they would say it fine. OR its a bushing on one of the control arms or a suspension link.
If its running fack it Lmao my tracker needs a bushing sometimes I here a noise but its not serious enough for me to address it since I know what it is.

CV joints can still be wrong even if there is no tear in the boot.
However thinking back (10+ years) usually CV joints is more clicking/crackin noise than grinding
But for them to say "its a commn thing for these cars" and then not diagnose it is stupid, if its so common its easy to find and fix.Last edited by keefy; 09-01-2012 at 15:14.
