Left and Leaving by The Weakerthans -9/10
They're pretty similar to Deathcab. Already had the album by a different means, but really liked it so warranted a purchase.
Just ordered a couple more CD's, so will be back!

Nirvana by Nirvana - 9/10
Enjoyed it quite a lot on first listen. Although, like a few songs on there already, so that probably helped bump it up a notch.
Haven't listened to the Third Eye Blind album yet, but will do today!

Love it! Boys 2 Men still has it, there are several songs on this album stuck in my head. There's even a little something on it for Goo Goo Doll fans: a Boys 2 Men version of Iris.Awww! Little baby bunny! <3

Artist: Uriah Heep
Album: Into The Wild
Rating: 9 out of 10
Comments:
Old classic rock metal sound, very smooth and easy to listen too. Rather enjoyable album for a band thats been around the block since 1969.
The kids in these new bands just don't get it.Last edited by mickice; 06-03-2011 at 14:17.

Only Revolutiobs by Biffy Clyro -8/10
Good stuff, they've been going for a while... first time I've bothered to listen to them and it's good. Not sure whether to bother going for some older stuff though.

Artist: Interpol
Album: Interpol
Rating: 9 out of 10
Comments: Their forth album has rubbed a few of the old skool fans the wrong way, as they have gone in a much more orchestral soundscape than their first 2 albums which had that distinctive choppy guitar sound. In my opinion this is Interpol heading towards the most mature, rich, tight, atmospheric album to date and to me represents their best. Somewhat a conceptual album, the last 3 songs (try it on, all of the ways, the undoing) are the best 3 piece line up to end an album on, fucking epic.PSU GHOST SYNDICATE - DUST 514 Media HUB - Podcast - BLOG (Soon™)

Trivium-In Waves
7.5/10
Not as good as some of their previous albums. Has some good songs on it but just doesn't have the feel of Trivium like I'm used to. Not bad but definitely a down grade from previous albums. Overall solid though. If you like metal check out Caustic Are the Ties That Bind. Best song on the CD in my opinion. Very good and melodic solo and great vocals. Got it from Best Buy for $10.

Puscifer - Conditions of My Parole
Leaked online before the retail version hits next tuesday. Great album.
Seems vocally driven compared to the other albums. Some really good beats to the songs... and the lyrics seem nicely ambiguous. They're stories but nothing real specific.
More greatness from James Keenan (Tool and A Perfect Circle). Course I expect as much from one of my favorite musicians.

New Puscifer?!? Why was I uninformed about this one.
Latest album I listened to:
VNV Nation - Automatic
More melodic but somewhat down tempo compared to their early albums. It's an evolution of their recent sound. Most of the harsh tones are gone, replaced by upbeat synth work but the driving bass is still there. Lyrics are typical of the past 2 or so albums. Themes of hope, courage, things aren't as bad as they seem positivity. There's one song on the album that's a throwback to their earlier style, which is a good thing but also a bit of a detraction. I like both styles equally, but the song doesn't exactly gel with the vibe of the rest of the album.
Overall I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10, definitely an album I can listen to in its entirety over and over.
Track 3 - Resolution
Track 4 - Control (the song that doesn't quite fit)

American Capitalist- Five Finger Death Punch 8.5/10
Very good follow up album from their last album which was amazing. A little bit heavier than their last, more along the lines of their debut album. Some of the songs seem kind of the same but they are all pretty damn good.

Terria by Devin Townsend
8.5/10
Devin is well known in the metal community through SYL, but surprisingly not many also followed his solo albums. Recently his solo work has had tremendous and well deserved recognition. I decided to dig back a little into his catelogue and pull out an absolute gem. It's one of his more mellow albums, but still packs quite a punch. Has his signature wall of sound techniques. Heavily influeced by progressive rock, fans won't want to miss Devin's spin on the genre.

Pearl Jam TEN out of 10
9/10
Great soundtrack, written, composed and sang by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. He combines some folk music with rock and they blend really well. Some of my favorite tracks are Hard Sun and No Ceiling. And to top that off, they're in the movie which is a great movie you should all own on blu-ray.
Just show you youngsters what you're missing out on. His goddamn GODLY GOLDEN voice. Truly talented individual.

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel - 5/10
Was all right. If I were to rate 'only living boy in new york' that song gets 10/10. I love that song, so bought the album... but only the first listen..
I may end up liking it more, but I'm doubtful.

Animals as Leaders - Weightless
New album from them, and it's totally awesome. Actually a three piece band now with a live drummer. Really really really with I could have gone to see them live on tour with Between the Buried and Me.

Lacrae- After the Music Stops
Genre: Christian Rap or Christian Hip Hop
Rating: 9 out of 10

The first song I heard off this album was "Praying for You". After listening to it a hundred times, I thought to myself, "This is a good album". I made a gamble and bought After the Music Stops. It was worth every penny.
The reason why I am not giving it a 10 out of 10 because I felt the album was a bit inconsistent. There were some songs I felt were not up to par with other songs, the main one being the first song on the album, "After the Music Stops". Jesus Musik was good but a lot of the songs in the beginning album I didn't like or didn't appeal to me. Then, I listened to "Send Me" and ever since after that song I haven't heard a song I didn't like. Even the very last song, which is mostly singing instead of rapping, is good.
Great album and I look forward to his next album, which is on it's way, "Rehab".Awww! Little baby bunny! <3

Machine Head and Mastodon both get a 9 from me on their new album, but Trivium deserves a 9.5. Whoever said real music is dying needs to be hit on the head with a shovel.

The Contortionist - Exoplanet 10/10.

Best Death Metal album of 2010 and in my top 20 albums of all time, it combines quite a unique mix deathcore and progressive death metal.
If you enjoy bands like Between The Buried And Me and Born of Osiris and deathcore in general you should definitely give this one a try.
Once more into the fray.

Artist: Lacrae
Genre: Christian Rap
Album: Rehab
Grade: 8 out of 10
Comments:
It's a good album, but not as good as "After the Music Stops". I feel like After the Music Stops leans more toward true rap while Rehab leans more toward pop or a mixture of pop and Rap. It's still a good album, but I feel disappointed in Rehab, I was expecting it to be better. The best songs on the album are really "Killa" and "New Shalom". "40 Deep" gets an honorable mention. This album was more consistent than After the Music Stops in quality. After a good song, you hear another good song. BUT, one reason why After the Music Stops was better because the OVERALL quality is better. You may hear an average song, but the next song could be excellent. Do I regret buying Rehab? No, but if I had money to only buy one of Lacrae's albums, I'd pick After the Music Stops without hesitation.
I got the deluxe version of Rehab which includes Rehab: Overdose. I may review it.Awww! Little baby bunny! <3
