I really like these kinds of thread. One great thing about this one is that you can discover new music much like the "Rate the Last Movie" thread. So in simple, list the last album you got and rate it from 1-10. Also label the genre as well along with a brief description of why you enjoy it or dislike it. I understand that everyone doesn't buy, just the last Album you obtained. However that was so be it. Here is #1.
Asking Alexandria-Stand Up and Scream 9/10
Genre: Metalcore/ Trance Metal
I will say this is my first CD from the modern Metalcore. Mostly was big into it when Trivium, Atreyu, and Bullet for My Valentine were dominating. I must say I am enjoying the hell out of this album. It has some serious riffs in it with some strong drum lines. I'm still not really a fan of the Death Growl but they seem to have the perfect mixture of growl, screaming, and singing. The Trance breakdowns are amazing! The first I have really heard this before and I love it. I got out of the Techno game long ago too. Very Solid Album.

I still buy CDs too. Not sure whether to add mine or not. No one cares about Bright Eyes :'(
Well, it was Motion Sickness - Live Recordings by Bright Eyes. Love it, as it's mainly songs I know already.... just live.
Favourite Song:
Elliott Smith cover.Last edited by darky89; 04-05-2011 at 22:12.

Yes, I have a somewhat moral compass when it comes to CDs. If it is a band that is starting up or on the rise that I like I will buy or my favorite bands like A7X, Bullet, and Atreyu. Just like Asking Alexandria. I wouldn't feel right about dl'ing that. Any other CD that I'm interested in that doesn't fall into those 2 categories I will DL it to see what it's like. If I really like it I will buy it.

Snoop Dogg's Doggumentary: 8/10 - It's pretty decent, hasn't changed his style of lyrics, but there are some decent tracks, reminds me of the blue carpet treatment..because the albums that followed after that just sucked ***. This one went back to the real Snoop. The Gorillaz collabo is awesome.

What album are you listening to?
I know there is a thread about what song you are listening to, so I thought it would be cool to see what types of albums people bought and are currently listening to and why they like it etc. Im currently listening to lupes lasers. I give it a 7/10.

Aw, no replies. I'll throw you one.
Currently, like right this minute: Elliott Smith - Elliott Smith (no, not because of the other thread).
Recently recurring: CunninLynguists - Onreiology
And in the future: Son Lux - We Are Rising.
I know this already because I previewed the album on NPR the other day and loved it, so will be playing it a lot once I get a copy of it to keep.

Merged. These two threads are very similar.
Anyway, I've listened to the new Foo Fighters album (Wasting Light) a few times now. It's a very solid effort, as there are no bad songs, but only a few songs really stick out to me.

Big K.R.I.T. - Return of 4eva
Really good mixtape from a rapper that I just recently heard of. It's over an hour, damn near every song is good, and it's totally free to download. Southern style rap that has a lot of soul and doesn't just talk about drugs and hoes.

Pearl Jam - Ten
Great example of Grunge music. Even Flow, Alive and Jeremy are my favorite tracks on the album. I think I played them to death in my car for a month. Alive is good for that long drive, but as long as the drive is along nice scenery like a forest or woods or small town backdrop. Even Flow is like the song for the 90's kid. The song of nostalgia. It reminds me of a time in life when everything was awesome and you didn't worry about the crap you worry about now as an adult. Jeremy just sounds so vocally amazing. Truly ****ed up real story. Kid shot himself in a texas school because of being bullied. I cannot stress how horrible bullying is. **** needs to stop, and if suspensions don't work, then the person who is getting bullied should have the right to kick the bullys' ***. Video was intense too. Really well done for its time. You could see Eddie in the kid, especially in the eyes. That was nuts.

Digital Ashes In A Digital Urn by Bright Eyes - 9/10
Received today, listened to it once, Like it. To be honest, there doesn't seem to be much stuff of his/band that I don't like.
That's Bright Eyes album number six for me. And there are still a good few left to get!

Asking Alexandria- Reckless and Relentless 8/10- Like the first album more but this one is great as well. Their style changed a bit from the first album but the production value definitely went up from the first. Much more solid sound this time around.

LTJ Bukem's Logical Progression is some of the best post-Y2K DNB I have ever heard. Seriously, every track takes your mind on a trip once the dnb hits the sweet spot in your ear drums. 11/10 a must buy for any DNB lover.

Between the Buried and Me - The Parrallax/Hypersleep Dialogues 9/10
Amazing CD that I recently got. I knocked a point off simply because it's not really an album, but an EP. It's 3 songs but still over 30 minutes. It's BTBAM doing what they always do: kick ***. Heavy progressive metal for those who don't know.

Damnit! you took my album! (EP).
I'd say a 9/10 as well.
The EP is very complex but i can hear classic BTBAM sound inside. Song 1 is balls to the walls awesome and has a great syncopated clear vocal section around 2/3rd way in. Song 2 is my favorite. Has a great guitar sweep to begin the song and sounds like Colors stylistically. Song 3 starts a little softer, but quickly goes into full force seamlessly. I heard the beginning as a nice jazzy section and it transitioned into metal without me even noticing. They blow me away more and more as time goes on.
Keep an eye out for Devin Townsend's Deconstruction and Ghost releasing June 20th and June 21st repspectively. If i'm not listening to Between the Buried and Me, i'm probably listening to Devin or Porcupine Tree.
