Now, to come back around to the NGP. Yes, it's got ball-busting, hardcore power. But it's also largely free from the limitations that plague iOS and Android phones. It doesn't have the driver overhead. The memory's predictable. Developers can basically write to the metal, without going through layers of software abstraction. While Epic couldn't talk technical specifics, knowing what we do know about the NGP hardware, and how it won't run into the same ceilings as iOS and Android devices, it's safe to say that it's going to be the undisputed king of killer mobile gaming, at least when it comes to pure, unrelenting eye candy.
So yeah, be ready to strap on your eyeballs. Wouldn't want them to get blown away during your morning commute.

I dunno... the title king will only be achieved through software.. they can tout the "potential" all they want. Show me the games, and I'll show you the crown.

It's good to see a big developer like Epic supporting the NGP like this though.

I wonder what Epic are developing on NGP. Bulletstorm, Unreal Tournament or *gasp* Gears of War...

This isnt out so it is bit hard to claim that but it has potential but many new devices do
"Everything that has ever happened has been leading up to this very moment"
"What happened to bros before hoes?" "Well, this one isn't a hoe, so she's first."

No. No it wont. I plan on getting an NGP at/shortly after release but to say it will kill mobile gaming is moronic.
The day they can offer the same service as the App store then maybe. until then, they have no chance.
Edit - I read it wrong. I thought they were assuming it would kill of the gaming on iOS's and Androids. The NGP will have the potential to offer the best mobile gaming experience for sure. It will be down to the developers to give us those experiences. Hopefully they've learnt from the PSP that we don't want scaled down versions of existing games. Give us new IP's, I dare you!Last edited by BoyBettaKnow; 04-06-2011 at 13:31.

Actually they did give us new IP. I would know, I mainly purchase new and exclusive IP's for consoles. I like what you are saying but you are in the minority about what users want because ALL 15 of the best selling PSP titles (list found here) are from established IP's.
Series birthed on the console such as lumines, loco roco, patapon, jeanne d arc, field commander, dead head fred and many more I can't name off my head not only show that the PSP was NOT IP starved, people simply didn't purchase them when they were available.
The NGP didn't only have established franchises but also showed titles like, little deviants, gravity daze, reality fighters, broken and smart as. So basically half of what they demoed for the console was new IP. I am sorry to make this a sticking point but I am tired of hearing the "lack of unique IP" discussion because it wasn't true for the PSP and it doesn't even seem like it will be true for the NGP.
Yeah but coming from epic...
I am sure they know what they are talking about because not only did they get to run the numbers, they also built demo's.While Epic couldn't talk technical specifics, knowing what we do know about the NGP hardware, and how it won't run into the same ceilings as iOS and Android devices, it's safe to say that it's going to be the undisputed king of killer mobile gaming, at least when it comes to pure, unrelenting eye candy.
