Sony have the largest quantity of first party studios and an extensive catalogue games which I honestly think Sony are not making use of. With the hacking incident going on, i think this would be an ideal time to capatalise on these and use them to even boost sales of their newer games.
Games like Warhawk, Wipeout, UC1, KZ2, Infamous 1 and those are just an example.......I think they should all be made available free on the PSN. Not only will this placate a vast majority of the people who are a little upset and demanding someform of compensation. I am not talking about new games, I am talking about older games (platinum releases etc) which should be in everyones collection. How often do you see a post asking for someone to recommend some games to them.....and when you tally up the costs of those it runs into the £100's. Games arent cheap either so people often hesitate when trying a new franchise. Putting these games available for newcomers and current players could get people interested in these franchises and spur possible growth for future releases (e.g. play UC1 and you will mostly likely want to go out and buy UC2 and also put yourself down for a day 1 release for uc3). It wold be a great incentive to get a ps3 if you new you were getting all of these top rated games for nothing. It'll also prolong interest in some games by vastly increaing the user base or potential user base.
Anyway thats just my thoughts, i cant guess whether this would cost sony or whether in the long term it would benefit them. Its just a suggestion of how to use the PSN which has compromised to win back the trust of people and also gain new customers.

I don't expect anything from sony it was not really their fault well maybe security could have been handled better but it could of happend to any company I am just going to protect myself with new passwords and everything is going to be ok.People whom demand compensation are wrong in my opinion.I just hope they catch the guys who did this and burn them to the ground that is who I am angry at. I will always be a sony fan and hate microsoft as a whole ever since the closed source os just like I am a linux man but have to use windows for games only reason. Linux is open source free and fast if you have never used it try it out it is my favorite OS. I just can't wait for all of this to be over and get back to my psn which hopefully will never get hacked again and was a wake up call to every company. And if you read the PSN blog you know that they did not know the cc numbers may have been compramised until one day before they told us.The only people jumping ship are the poeple whom are not really True PS fans how could you be if you jump ship. I have been playing playstation since the very first console from the very first game and will be a proud playstaion "fanboy" for the rest of my days unless the company ends.I enplore everyone to do the same they have the best console in many areas it wins over any other console.Better hardware PS+ blu ray drive full HD 3D and so many other features that make it number one in my book.Well that was me venting on the situation and hope there are poeple that feel the same.

Oh... I don't even want to touch the rest of this post because... yea.
Anyway as for the bold text. Yea, it could have happened to any company; however, it's Sony obligation to make sure they're not the company it happens to. They failed.
Now on topic!
I don't think Sony would, it's an excellent idea but it's also a bit much. They're going to have to do something though if their PR execs have any brains.

I will agree with him on one thing. Linux can be better at times. 9/10 if i'm just browsing the internet or i'm doing college work i'll use Linux (Why pay for office when i can use Open Office for free?) but as long as Windows has/own DX i'll always need it for games.
OT though - Sony don't need to do anything IMO. Especially not needing to give out free games. Unless you actually had you details stolen and things have happened as a result of that then Sony don't owe you nothing more but a mere Sorry.I Like Games.

Why do you feel this way? I'd like to be clear on your stance.
Are you saying that Sony doesn't need to do anything at all, and shouldn't do anything in an attempt to recover their public image?
or
Are you saying that Sony doesn't need to do anything at all, and that we, as gamers do not deserve any compensation for this?
If it's the former then there's not much I can say besides wrong. Sony should be doing everything they can to recover their public image. After this the Playstation brand will be severely damaged. It takes years to build a brand but seconds to destroy it.
If it's the later then you're right. Sony isn't obliged to do a thing and we don't deserve anything from this. That doesn't mean it wouldn't be a smart idea to offer something out of good will.

It's the second point. Sure, it would be a good PR if Sony did act out of goodwill but it's not something they have to do.
The PSN is a free service that you are lucky to get to use. The fact it went down is unfortunate but Sony arent obliged to give you anything because their free service went down, like many gamers are demanding.
You get what you pay for. In this example you've not paid for anything so you've not got (or lost) anything.I Like Games.

If Sony ever *went under* for real, then the company would be reorganized and pop-up with a new name, having many of the same people working for then (it's not like they would all go running over to microsoft), and the same infrastructure.
Sony has developed countless products/software that they have long-term trademarks, patents, copyrights, etc etc on, this stuff doesn't just fizzle out on day one when a company goes under, those who have invested in development and marketing of those products/software do get the chance to recover losses.
This is usually down through creation of a new company, without the baggage of it's predecessor (but with similar creations).
So, will Sony ever really truly disappear? I don't think so.
But their name might change!
And nobody here is gonna quit gaming if Sony goes under!

The. Thing about being a CONSUMER. As they call us is we don't control crap.. we are determined to be puppets in capital gain.. that's all .. if the Systems Network has a problem its our job to sit the fudge down and wait until its corrected.. No company is entitled to give a precise timeline to a fix.. I know programming and this crap surely isn't a 2 week fix.. if your Entire server has been compremised then chances are there. Is a sleeper aka timebomb waiting inside so that the hacker can exploit his/her way back in easily .. All the time it will be undetecable if they are uber enough.. and for sony to make users seems dumb by trying to give an explanation on. Cryptology is non sense.. any hacker can break a hash if they have 100% access on their server hash + key = cleartext result.. and breaking encryption these days with the power provided to use in the public sector is a month job tops.. Being Hacked Is a Way Of INet Life.. Any thing with online access has been or will be intruded upon its unavoidable ...
