I had an account from last year and never used it either until I found a nice use for it.

While away from home and over 3G, I use Airvideo to queue videos for conversion. Airvideo is set to save directly in the Dropbox folder which is then automatically uploaded to dropbox. When around wifi I download all converted videos to the iPhone using the dropbox app.

My gf and her sister are using it to share pictures and music.

I found dropbox is a great tool to use for semester long group projects in school. Using that and google docs worked pretty well.

Won't even need to think about a service like this until at least 2013 when my student login will expire. I can currently use my student drive to store files remotely.

The thing that's really nice about DropBox vs. just any cloud storage (and certainly vs. just remote storage) is the really seamless integration across Winders/OSX/iOS/Android.

I'm working on a little side-side gig doing some analysis of the current architecture of a product and I'm kind of adding content when/where-ever. So I've got a document in my DropBox folder that I open directly into my Windows text app, and save directly, then the other night my battery (plus noise/heat) of my PC made me grab the MBP, same thing just opened the file right from the DB folder, made more changes. Then later I opened it directly from my iPad and edited it - again directly - no saving and moving, or after-the-fact sync, it was always updated, ready to open and add additional content. Plus, all my changes, which machine, date/time stamp, is fully tracked in the DB log function.

Awesome.

It is very handy isn't it? (I mean dropbox, not my invites )

To be honest I wouldn't be using it if there wasn't integration among platforms. More specifically iOS.

That doesn't sound so bad but its abit of a hassle getting other people (friends) to sign up to gain that 16GB.

already use dropbox. its a terrific tool for students. Not only is it free, but its 1000 times more effective than blackboard. My university uses blackboard and its awful. Never works how its supposed to and very slow. Dropbox on the otherhand is always handy on my comp. Documents are uploaded quickly and its an easy way to allocate documents and information among a large number of places. Don't pay for shit like carbonite, save shit for free on dropbox!

I use DropBox all the time, to sync across my iOS devices, my main notebook, it’s super handy for keeping “active” working documents, several apps I use sync up directly.

I’ve got like 3.25GB from just reading all the docs, doing the simple bonus perks, and I think a couple of invites.

I gave google drive a try and its crap in cmparision sure you get more space but sharing stuff is alot harder I found.
skydrive is better than google but still not as good as dropbox I say.
