9th June 2011:
I know that what I'm about to show you occurs every time a new console is announced, shopping websites start to stick pre-order dates on the console even before the company has announced a confirmed date.
In PSV's case, what I've found so far is this:
ShopTo
ShopTo are claiming that the PSV will be released on the 4th of November 2011.
This isn't completely believable, as it seems too early, but it's definitely something to work around.

*BTW, I find ShopTo to be the cheapest for a PSV if you are in the UK.
Updated 10th June 2011:
frasmataz
frasmataz has found another suspicious release date on the HMV website seen below:
http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProduct...T.mc_id=101915
They say it will be released on the first day of 2012. Which i wouldn't mind to be honest LOL
Thanks for that frasmataz.
Me personally, I think that it will either release in early December to late March.
I really hope it releases in less than a year so the buzz doesn't ware off.
Thanks for viewing.
P.S. Be sure to let me know if you found some of your own so I can stick em' in the thread.

This is a little off topic, but Gamestop is showing the prices of the VITA games. $40? That's not bad, as every new PS3 game is $60.
I'm guessing that would be the £30 mark in the UK. I would love for games to be £30.

Playstation Vita is very easy to develop for, so it cuts costs when making a game for the hardware. $40 a piece wouldn't surprise me but we shouldn't hold our breath until we see an official pricing from Sony.

HMV have it for 1/1/12 ...
Which to me would seem eally stupid after all the Xmas sales have gone, would be better for a before Xmas to be in with all the Xmas shopping and alot of people would get the Vita as the gadget for Xmas.
Heres the link anyways

I highly doubt Sony has even communicated the release date to any retail outlets, so any "leaks" you're seeing now are probably tentative dates at best, Sony still has quite a while to decide when to finally release it.
Epic lulz... You do realize that the vast majority of the cost for developing a game comes from the art assets, right? Given that the PSV more or less mandates better graphics than any previous handheld, this translates to HIGHER costs than compared to, say, the PSP or even 3DS.
In fact, I'd dare say that we'll probably see some big budget titles that'll have a budget very similar to what you'd see on the PS3/XBox 360...I am a moron. Do not argue with me because I will drag you down to my level and win with experience

I guess you're right, but Sony were hiding something at the E3 Expo.. I honestly think they have a certain release date in their minds.. a specific month anyway.
At one point, the Uncharted guy says something like "When Sony said we could work with the VITA 2 years ago, it opened a whole new door of opertunities for us".
2 years in development? Other than a few final tweaks.. I think the VITA is ready.
But I do not Disagree or Agree with your comment, I'm just a speculative person.. and when it comes to a beast of a console such as the VITA.. I easily get hyped. LOL
I don't think the prices will be on par with the PS3/360 games.. I think it will atleast be a little cheaper? Maybe $50 in the US and £35 in the UK?
That seems reasonable to me.

Thank yah farhad2k8!
I could see them putting it for £35 for the games.
What was the PSP when they first started again ?
The Region free is a nice thing if true, could mean no matter where it comes out people who want it will have it on the first line.
EDIT
Just found this wee small thing, if this is anything to go by this is very promising

I wish it was that simple, but knowing Sony.. that's probably not true. They always push back their consoles. Maybe it will release this year in Japan.
I really hope it releases this year, I go in to University this year.. and the VITA will really help me with my boring trips.. I know that my bus has Wi-Fi

Would be a dumb move if Sony missed the Christmas sales. I hope Sony push this out the door asap.

Maybe Japan and America will get it this year November and Europe will get it March 2012. That seems plausible. I noticed a debate about PlayStation Vita game prices. A lot of the art assets used for making 360/PS3 games can be transferred quickly and cheaply to the PlayStation Vita so cheaper game prices than 360/PS3 games is a strong possibility.
Also historically gamers have demanded portable games be cheaper than their console counterparts. Sony would be wise to keep this in mind when pricing the PlayStation Vita's software.

Add to this, that there is now a large market off small games, on the Android / Iphone's, with a low access price. While these are not full games, they do make people think about the prices.
But to assume that the Vita games are going to be a lot cheaper because they can easily port the games from 360/PS3, may be dangerous. If there is one thing i noticed, that publishers WILL try to push the highest possible prices.
Look at the PC market. Steam... Its a digital service, no production costs, and yet the games on there normal prices are actually more expensive then in stores like play.com. If it was not for the constant 50/75% discounts ( that sell the games ), ....
Even worse is the price difference between those US buyers & EU buyers. Buying from the exact same digital store, but end up paying 40% to sometimes 100% more.
Yea, if they can charge more, they will charge more. So do not put to much hope in cheap portable games just yet ( even if they are direct PS3 ports with minimum effort ).

Good reply...but
I wasn't putting hope in/assuming anything. Merely saying it is a strong possibility and more importantly something Sony should think deeply about - which I am sure they will.
Your example cites a digital store - pricing problems which are related to the PSN store pricing structure. Yet we know that the PlayStation Vita will have physical medium games (to sell at retail) also. And we know how those prices shoot very quickly downwards post-release.
You go onto talk about discounts - which are an example of the publisher relenting slightly - which is an example of the publisher not getting away with what they can/want to charge because there are demand considerations to take into account.
Anyway the point is part of the cost of development on PlayStation Vita titles can/will be subsidized through PS3/360 assets/development process. Whether that leads to a lower RRP (the usual PS3/360 title is £40) is unknown but considering the nature of the portable market (especially now) Sony would be wise to pass on those cost reductions to the consumer.
At retail this is very likely to happen (I anticipate £30-35 RRP's on PlayStation Vita titles). I don't think that Sony will charge what they want/can get away in the retail environment.
On the PSN store however things could look very different as proved by past PSN store experience. That is something Sony will have to address if they want to shift sales in favor towards the PSN Store.
Anyway nice of you to post and I look forward to seeing you more around here. You seem new to the forums so welcome and I hope you keep posting in the PlayStation Vita section. It is a bit quite here and it is nice to get some company.Last edited by Wasib; 06-13-2011 at 13:50.

He didn't confirm a March release. Why is it assumed when he stated "by end of the" that it must be March? He also states it is for all 3 regions(released by the end of the fiscal year for all 3 regions). When was the last time US and Pal regions had a simultaneous launch?
It could be something like Nov/Dec for Japan, Dec/Jan for US and Feb/March for Pal regions. US and Japan releases are usually closer to each other than US and Pal region releases are.
