And the presumption is that he preferred to join City because he likes them - or that he can go there because of the fee they are willing to pay Arsenal and the salary he can get?

Don't think any footballer plays for a team because they 'like them'. If that was what it all revolves around Rooney would still be at Everton and Nicky Butt would have played at Everton and Scholes would have played for Oldham Athletic.
That and that he'll get to play with world-class players such as Aguero and Silva.
Or he can stay with Arsenal and play with Oxcart-Chamberpot and a load of 18 year olds.Last edited by dc89; 08-22-2011 at 10:20.

If he goes to City he'll just use them as a springboard to some other team, just like Tevez and Balotelli.

Success and money does this to people. Goes for football fans before. One day you're in cool converse shoes and the next you are in bespoke leather brogues. Now you look down on those before.. This analogy is going nowhere. Anyway, to the Arsenal fan, when your team was winning trophies in the 90's and early part of this century you're fans were the smuggest around, even more so than (real) united fans. I am a Liverpool fan, my team has had very limited success in my lifetime, but I am pretty sure if we won the league this year then most of our fans would be intolerable too. Just how it happens, the majority of fans are (insert insult).

Why did he stay then? Not a good argument as he never actually went to Chelsea. The fact that he was that close and ended up staying actually strengthens his commitment in my opinion.
And who's higher than Messi now? I mean purely on club salary, not endorsements or anything (Ronaldo only gets paid more when considering his endorsements).Last edited by Shibby; 08-24-2011 at 15:59.

But Gerrard still looked and was tempted.
This list is now outdated as Eto'o is now the highest paid player on the planet.

Yeah but the point is he resisted the temptation.
Oh yeah I forgot that Eto'o just got like 350m/week. That's ridiculous.
The point I was originally making though is that it's not like Messi is underpaid or anything for him to ever be tempted by 'City money'.

08-25-2011 #317Always seems to be a quote some where of a now City player criticising City in the past.Nasri, 21/4/10: "It is unfair because I think we have more merit as a club than those who have built their teams with millions of pounds."

I can let people think what they want. For me it was a choice about football, and we'll see at the end of the season when we will lift a trophy and we will talk about my choice again. I will show everyone who was thinking about money wrong.

What a bunch of bullshit.. where was he the latter half of the season when we needed him and he was putting in bad performances? Of course he can't help a team to win trophies so he has to go to a billionare's playtoy club.
I admit his performance against Barcelona was good but after that he disappeared.
