Playing downloaded PSOne PAL games on NTSC PS3s?

Hi guys. I've searched everywhere for this answer but I still haven't found it. Here's my case:

I bought FFVII-VIII-IX and Vagrant Story off of my european account. My 60GB was from Spain, so I could play those before, but since it died on my 1 year ago, I haven't been able to play them since I got a 120GB mexican one. I get this weird "cannot play game with the current video settings" crappy message whenever I try. Weird thing is, my TV has always been a NTAC Vizio 720p-1080i TV and I could play my PSOne games before, but not now with my 120GB Slim. Obviously, this is thanks to my new slim not being PAL, but I thought downloaded games could play anywhere. Even now, with a new LG 1080p TV, I can't even play them. Heck, I can even play PAL and NTSC PSOne games on my PSP, but I can't on my PS3...

Summing it up, what can I do to play downloaded PAL PSOne games on a NTSC PS3 Slim? Do I need a special TV or do I have to to toy with any setting on my TV or my PS3?

Lot's of +rep to whoever can solve my problem and a juicy custom signature and avatar set as well.

I dont know but I once gameshared Spyro 1 with my US friend (NTSC PS3 obviously) and it worked on my PAL PS3, so I'm guessing it'll work the other way around. It might depend on the title though.

So I'm guessing its to do with either the TV or the titles (considering they're all Squaresoft, might be some specific coding in the games).

They must still run and output at 50Hz which I guess is the problem.

I guess so, since it's one of the few things I managed to salvage out of my research. Still, what can I do to play my games? Should I try through component cables or maybe good old red-yellow-white cable?

I Doubt anything other than getting a PAL PS3 will work because I suspect NTSC versions lack the hardware for 50Hz.

Keep in mind that ps3 is only region free for ps3 games and nothing else. Afaik, the ps1 classics off the psn store are region locked so the ntsc ps3 will not play a pal ps1 classic. Toying with cables or tv settings is going to do nothing. you will have to download the ntsc versions of the same games off the na store to play on your na console.

They do, it has to be a TV issue. Thats why people tell you to buy your games off the US store for the extra 10Hz, lol.

Complete and utter nonsense. 99% of the content on the PS Store is region free minus a few select DLC that are locked to certain code games.

I'm talking about ps1 classics on the store. I remember d'ling a game frm the eu store it did not work on my us ps3. ps3 game demos are not a problem.

Also on the TV side of things, televisions sold in NA are not multi-color. they will only do ntsc. televisions sold in eu/ most of asia are multi-color (they do ntsc/pal/secam). But IF according to you ps1 classics are region free, then this is a moot issue.

PS- I can read you in normal sized font just fine.

They are region free, maybe American TV's are locked to 60Hz?

There's no maybe, like i said, televisions sold in NA are not multi-color, they can only do ntsc ie they can only process 60 hz . What you folks in eu/aus get are multi- color tv systems , they can do ntsc/pal/secam ie they can process 50 hz as well as 60 hz.
