Gears definitely looks better on the X360 whilst Uncharted 3 really does steal the show on the PS3.

Overall, they appear oddly comparable, but I honestly think Gears 3 looks better.

Yeah, me too. Both games look incredible but having played both betas I was more impressed with Gears 3.

I don't care about graphics. I would rather have a game that is fun to play and has ok graphics than a game that is boring and has the best graphics.
That's just me though.

Both games are equally fun to me as far as gameplay goes.

Gears 3 is the best looking game on 360 no doubt!!!
U3 looks great, but here we dont have such big step forward after U2, like U2 make it against first game, i wanna see final build
explosion effects look better in gears 3, but i more like levels in u3

Before I actually get to the content, both of these games will be great, and both have spectacular graphics.

That being said, I think they both have their strong suits and their weaknesses. There's a picture where you see the sun shining in both games, and it definitely looks far better on the Gears of War side of things. On the other hand there's a picture where they're looking at a building. The architecture and overall appearance of the building looked superb whereas the Gears image looked mediocre.

At the end of the day, gameplay > graphics, though.

You can't legitmatly compare these two games because they have two different art directions. Both are impressive in their own rights, but you can't say one has better graphics than the other

That's a really good point. I was thinking something along those lines but I didn't express it in my post. Gears takes the more grim, darker approach to things, whereas Uncharted tries to use a wide variety of colors to make the area feel "alive".

I have to disagree. These two games don't have a chasm of difference. Uncharted is more colorful, sure, but you can easily see the comparison between things like character models, textures, and polygons. If we can't compare Uncharted 3 and Gears 3, then what games can we compare?

considering these are just beta shots, gears looks better. knowing naughty dog tho, uncharted will not look like this when the game is released

Gears 3 wowed me more graphically than uncharted 3 but I love both games so it's a win win for me!

When in doubt I always pick the game with animation and physics compared to shiny textures and bad writing..lol that's just me though some love Gears more and that is fine, but I remember everyone said Gears looked better than Uncharted 2 and when the game came out I can safely say it surely did not so I don't worry about Sony made games they always have a way of finding their way to the top of the food chain.

Gears 3 looks better, but based on what I have seen of Bioshock Infinite, THAT looks better than both of them.

Ew, Uncharted looks bad. No doubt these are beta screens. SP should shut a few loud mouths here and there. Even U2 looks better to me. However, credit where credit is due, GeoW3 looks incredibly awesome.

The only real difference from such early screens is the colour pallet, Uncharted steals the show with it's bright green grass and beautiful sunlight.

I only had the chance to play the uncharted beta. so i cant really comment on which looks better because I've only seen screens and gameplay from gears. However, remember gears was going to release in April. The game was finished. So you have a completed game releasing a beta in April, the month it was going to be released, vs a game that is still 5 months away from release. So of course gears is going to look better. I will even say that gears might look better when released because they have had all this extra time to tweak and polish.

From those screenshots I'd say Uncharted 3 looks better. It appears to have a slight bit more refinement, and better colours. I may be off-put by how gears 3 looks de-saturated in comparison.
