Mostly fine-tuning & last polishes left, it's feature & content-complete otherwise.
4 gameplay clips showing battles, the insta-death attacks (if you time (some) of your attacks right and maybe depending on other things, you can kill an enemy with a single strike) and world-map.Final Fantasy Type-0 appears to be nearing completion. In a post at the game's development blog today, director Hajime Tabata said that all that remains in the game's development is tuning and debugging.
Tabata reflected a bit on the game's lengthy development. It's been three and a half years since the platform was switched from cell phones to PSP. Tabata says that, as you might expect, three and a half years feels like a long time for development, although he noted that The 3rd Birthday was the main project for about a year of that time.
Because of the lengthy development, they've managed to polish up the game and fill it with content, he added.
Type-0 will be seeing somewhat of a landmark tomorrow as it makes its playable debut at an Odaiba demo event. Square Enix shared a control chart for the demo build earlier today. You can see a translation here.
The demo will be limited to 15 minutes (depending on the crowds). To allow players to get the most of the game, the staff has prepared a special version called "Natsubi." This special version allows you to take on missions straight from your room, which serves as your base of operations. The special version also keeps the difficulty low.
You'll have access to seven characters: Queen, Rem, Ace, Nine, Machina, King and Scythe. In place of actual multiplayer, where you'd have other players coming into your game to support you in battle, the demo will use the game's fake multiplayer system, where you're supported by other students from your school.

Oh boy, my 3DS is getting some hardcore love, but I fear this game coming out because it won't be getting any no longer.

I'm a bit worried about this game's localization, to be honest. PSP is dead everywhere else but Japan.
Dead.
I can't see this selling too well in NA & Europe no matter what, even if it's claimed to be the best FF ever by all critics & gamers who play it and even if was localized. Might be Square Enix will have to make this a Vita-release instead.

Indeed man. However, if they decide to make it a PS Vita game, I'd be an even happier man! I mean, more raw power means less loading times and two analogue sticks means even more control. Hey, to be honest, I'd actually want this game on the Vita better.
Also, I think I've added you to my 3DS friend list, do you play Mercenaries by any chance?

Based on the loading time in the world-map video in the OP, I don't think loading times could get any better on Vita (as I don't think there's even a second loading, at least in that footage).
Nah, I don't have it atm. Not sure if I'll buy it too soon, kinda low on my list of games I need to play, atm. I mean, I just now bought Little Big Planet 2.Also, I think I've added you to my 3DS friend list, do you play Mercenaries by any chance?
I'll need to add you to my friend list too once I'm online on 3DS and happen to remember it.

It should certainly be an optional PSN download for PSP AND Vita. I love to play it on the big screen as well, but I don't know if it can be in HD like that o.O
And I don't see how it can be the best FF ever with characters who all dress the same >.>

Yes, because the clothes that the characters wear is all that matters in the games quality...
It's a school-setting, people dress the same. Whatever, really. Didn't prevent Personas from being great with their characters in school uniforms. It's the personalities that should matter, not what they wear. So long as there's no(t too many) Vanille/Selphie/Zell/Rikku/other annoying characters and the characters have more depth that all the Bros in Gears of War/Halo/Call of Duty/generic shooter, we should be all good...

I'm still 99,9999% certain Versus will end up the even better game. I mean, they could both end up being considered 5/5 AAA games, but Versus will still end up being the one that is the better game what's with it not suffering from PSP's limitations (small-ish screen, worse camera control due to not having dual analog nubs, lack of power -> not as impressive audiovisually, size-limitations of UMD etc.). Things that don't necessarily drop it from being a game that deserves top-scores across the board, but things that still make Versus the better experience, if the gameplay & story are ~on par.

It's still kind of a part of Fabula Nova Crystalis, but they just dumped the XIII part because there's so little in common with the two games. AFAIK, there are still the common mythology of l'cies & fal'cies and whatnot (at least I remember there being some mentioning of Type-0 having those too, though perhaps not as prominently as XIII)

^Seems your right Azu. I also remembered the other games having references of I'Cie and fal'Cie but I don't keep up with Versus and certainly Type-0 to remember what they do in those games. This caused me to look at the FF Wiki and see what I could dig up!
http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/L'Cie (seems Gilgamesh is a I'Cie in that game)
http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Fal'Cie (VersusXIII has Etro in it)
SE sure does know how to confuse people. I'm pretty certain early in the year when they said Type-0 changed it's name that it's was no longer a FNC game. But the FF Wiki still puts it in the same category so maybe it still is. If they still use the same terms like fal'Cie and I'Cie I don't see how they couldn't be >.>

It's still part of Fabula Nova Crystallis. It's just no longer a Final Fantasy XIII game.
Confusing, I know. lol

The change in name is mostly because they'd really want to make this into a kind of "portable mainline FF" series. That is, games that get just as big of a budget (at least relatively speaking) as a big home console FF, but they'd just be for portables. Of course the differences in atmosphere etc. are also to "blame" for the namechange. Type-0 just seems like it's a game from a director who's had massive influence from Yasumi Matsuno's games (there are several factions participating in these conflicts and the war is brutal, no doubt there will be some back-stabbing & scheming behind backs as well), so even if it is still a FNC game in essense, it's too far away from FFXIII to keep XIII in the name.
Btw, Square Enix released a 5-song OST in celebration for the first public Type-0 demo that could be bought at the event where the demo is playable. Here they are:

They sound awesome. Can't wait to get the OST when the game releases and listening to it for the 6+ months it will probably take to arrive outside Japan. ;__;
