Hey all. I currently own the Tritton AX-720 and they're great. Does 5.1 surround and I don't have to worry about charging. Now Sony's coming out with their 7.1 Wireless Stereo headset.
Between the two which would you guys choose? I can get all my money back for the Tritton. I do wish the AX-720 had more bass to it for when listening to music.
I'm almost leaning to the Sony. If it can do surround as well or better than the Tritton can, and it does more bass then I'd almost have to get it. Not to mention that while it uses a USB dongle on the PS3, so does the Tritton (USB cord from the amp to PS3). Not to mention the Tritton has that amp that takes up a little space too. I also have to switch out my Optical cable from the Tritton amp to my actual 5.1 receiver when I want to switch between using headsets to full surround in the room.

I'm in the same boat. 5.1 to 7.1 is nitpicking to me with headphones, I personally don't find the bass that bad with the 720s. You can get a switcher for the tos-link easy enough, but your right about the USB (easily solved as well though). I do like the idea of being able to hook up two sets without adjusting the 720s set-up. Wireless is cool, but charging sucks. Lastly I love the feel of the Trittons and to me comfort is king.

Out of the two I'd probably stay with the Trittons. My uncle has a pair of the Sony's and while they're very good, I think my old Trittons were better.
If wires aren't a problem (they come with a very long cable to go around the room) may I suggest some Sharkoon X-Tatic Digitals? True 5.1 with the best bass in any of the 3 headphones I've mentioned.
Have a look at them anyway, before committing yourself to buying the others.

look at either of these, both are far better options

Sennheiser 555/595

I think you also must consider certain intangible aspects of the headsets. Tritton customer service was appauling when mine was defective out of the box. it took forever to get in contact with someone just to be told to take a hike. Sony in contrast is always reasonably fast and has never failed to resolve an issue dating back to the PS2. I'd switch to sony for that comfort alone. I'm sure the Trittons are fine headsets but honestly i'll never buy one again because of the customer service i got.

Somebody get me a doctor, I ain't feelin' ill ...But I ain't feelin' this at all...

The Sony headset looks nice but I think I'll stay with my ax 720s.

I bought a pair of logitech Wireless headphones for about $120 dollars and they are awesome. Honestly all I hear are horror stories about the Trittons, and they are kind of ugly. I don't need 7.1 surround sound, I just want great sound quality, strong bass, and a well built and comfortable product.

They have a similar model with 7.1 surround sound, but has slightly lower reviews.

Sennheiser is great, but I read complaints about the bass not being very strong so I strayed away, but they do make kick ass products.
