I have two pairs right now;
Those are a pair of Sony MDR-XD200
Can't be bothered to check out the specs, Google it if you want to know, but they are great and the price was really good. Great headphones for the TV which is what I use them for.
Main headphones:
Those are Klipsch Image S4i, great sound from them as well the price was reasonable when I got them and the remote and mic works with the iPhone which is a big deal for me.
EDIT: I am looking to add a third pair without a remote and mic to use in the house, would be my "wear and tear" pair - but I do need them to have great sound. Probably going to go for a pair of Sennheiser.Last edited by Tutankhamun; 09-06-2011 at 15:30.

Sweet headphones. I am jealous!
I'd also like a pair of the Sony's to use while gaming late at night.
How long is the cord?
-------------------------
I wanted some good IEMs for the iPhone about 2 years ago, but I also liked Apple's sweet in-line remote.
So I followed the rule. If you can't find it, DIY.
I had a pair of S-Jays lying around. I liked the earphones, so I took out the soldering gun. I still use them today.
Here are some pics:

Yeah those Sony's are pretty sweet, the cord is 3.5m so pretty damn perfect for the TV. I got them for pretty cheap on Net On Net but they don't seem to carry them now. Bet you can find a good deal on Prisjakt though.

I see Valves, do they make a difference? I am too young to remember them.

Awesome, 3.5m is certainly enough. Reviews say they are great, specially considering the price.
They go for like 300kr on prisjakt. I'll be greedy and try get them for half that price from eBay.
Thanks for the tip!
I am not familiar with this problem, but you can solder pretty much any cable you want.
Actually it's a very easy mod to do. If you are the slightest comfortable with soldering it will go just fine.
Yes, a soldering gun is a must, a glue gun will also make the process much easier since you wont have to make knots to secure the cable in the earphones.

Many manufacturers still make tube amps. It is just not as common as it used to be. The Little Dot MKIII in the setup was produced in the last couple of years, so we are not talking about ancient history. Woo Audio and Little Dot are very popular for their tube headphone amps.
Yes, they make a difference. However, you may or may not appreciate it. They can "warm up" the music, which I find beneficial for some styles of music and certain recordings that are too metallic sounding. I also have solid state and hybrid amps, so I am not loyal to an all tube setup. I just like the variety.
I forgot to post my vintage headphone setup. It contains a pair of Realistic HP100 Electrostatic headphones. These are from the days when Stax would sell their headphones under different names. If I remember correctly, Marantz also carried a pair of Stax rebranded headphones.

Yeah, one of my old AV gear hangouts had a few lines of exotic, tube based products. I had a McIntosh MC275 re-issue (mid 90's) that got fried and I never got it repaired, actually sold it to a hardcore audiophile buddy of mine (who was also doing repair work on the side). Just kind of got out of the scene, kind of wish I still had it.

It was a long process, so I am not going to go into a lot of detail on every pair, but I wanted individual headphone setups in three rooms. Also, a couple pair were bought for taking on trips (Grados/Etys). The Electrostats were just thrown in with the purchase of the Sonic T-amp.
I mainly chose different brands just because headphones all have their own sonic signature and I like variety.
If you wondering, I also like speakers, but because they are bigger and take up more room, they are not something I want to collect in the same way. I do frequent forums where guys have 6 pair or more of stereo speakers in their rooms (I am not referring to surround sound, just stereo), but it just not something I would want to do for aesthetic reasons. Also, it is much more unusual to find a pair of speakers for $60 that perform in the same class as a pair of Grado SR60s.
(Yes, that was the short version of my answer.
)
When I think of modern and vintage tube amps, McIntosh is the brand the comes to mind first. They have a HUGE following on any audiophile forum you can think of.Yeah, one of my old AV gear hangouts had a few lines of exotic, tube based products. I just got the official Sony 7.1 wireless surround sound headset. It rocks. For $99.00 it is unbeatable for quality, sound, comfort and price.
