    Official Person of Interest Thread

Did anyone else catch the pilot for Person of Interest the other day? I thought it was great! Use this thread to talk about the new show.

There's things I really like and there's a few things that I'm still growing into.

Such as what? In any case, I'm glad you brought up the show a while back.

This episode was better, the case was more interesting. That's what I'm afraid of though, that this series is gonna rely on formulaic cases which is why I don't watch cop shows with the exception of Castle. The pilot episode, when they were introducing the fact that these people are involved somehow but it could be anything... i figured it wasn't going to be straight forward. And of course the woman was the evil person.

I do like how they're slowly revealing more of their stories and personality. Michael Emmerson is pretty awesome, he does that quirky personality great along with that disability.

The other thing with this episode are the visuals they're using, different timelines, shifting storylines. It's a nice style that isn't obviously polished but its not low-budget either. It feels more Tony Scott which I like.

The cellphone UIs are fairly obvious but I understand they're trying to tell how its happening in a quick flash shot, as in they flash the cellphone screen which says its a "wiretap". I think that's obvious and unrealistic but again, I get that they have to establish how its happening in a quick shot.

I don't know about that last part but it did seem like they spoiled a lot of the best moments during the preview. Still, I think the pilot did a good job setting up the narrative for the show.

I agree. It's actually one of the main reasons people are watching the show right now. Michael Emmerson and Jim Caviezel. And although I'm not familiar with the latter, I really enjoyed watching Michael Emmerson play his role in Lost.

It does feel a bit like Numb3rs, doesn't it?

Honestly, I can say that I prefer the simple cellphone UIs they're using now over the cheesy Matrix-esque stuff that you see in most big-budget films and television shows. Overall, I really like the direction Person of Interest is taking. It feels like I'm watching elements of Bourne, Lost, and Human Target all in the same hour.

I never saw Lost so I know Caviezel over Emmerson. Jim was in The Count of Monte Cristo and The Passion of the Christ.

The Bourne Identity is one of my all-time favorite action movies. Jason Bourne is still the most badass action character... he could kill Reese in his sleep and no one would ever know even with Finch's software.

In Reese's defense he is only a Ranger, compared to what Bourne is. I mean Reese has training and he can brawl with the best of them, but Bourne would just collapse the guy without ever breaking a sweat.

Yeah. So far, I'd say this was my favorite episode.

I don't think Reese killed Andrew, in this week's episode.

He sets a fake fire alarm in a district court in NY, inside the courtroom no less. Thats kinda pushing it.

And I think its weirder that they sit back to back in a diner/cafe with no one else around. Trying too hard.

I do like that they explained the wrong number thing. Almost thought they were hitting loopholes 5th episode in.

I think they could have shed some more light on Reese and Finch's back-stories. Also, it was Michael Cerveris, who plays the Observer on Fringe, in the role of Koska for this episode of Person of Interest.

Person of interest gets a full season becoming the #2 drama. Rocking the house a mere 30,000 short of 14 mill viewers.

Don't know how CBS does it they rack the most viewers of any network.

First episode of the new year... they're doing a good job of keeping this show interesting. And Emmerson explaining the machine near the end was cool/intriguing.
