I used to have a shit ton of PS1 games which I stupidly traded in when I found out you can do so. I'm finding myself buying all the PS1 games I used to own from the PSN store or from other places. Anyone else doing this?

Well I never sold any of my PS1 games, but I was pretty ignorant back then and missed out on a LOT of good games and didn't own a whole lot. So for the last few years I've been slowly finding classic games from the PS1, even some PS2 in 2nd hand shops and cheap on ebay.

Not a fan of buying digitally, I'd rather own the physical copy ><

I own most of the PS1 games that I was interested in and am buying them off the store and selling my physical copies on amazon to make a small amount back. I just find it easier to have it on the HDD, and able to put it on my PSP whenever, plus the PS1 cases broke easily. I'm also doing the same with my PS2 games and the PS3 remasters though I've only replaced my GOW1 and 2 with the GOW Collection, never had any of the Sly games,Splinter Cell etc.Not replacing my SH games though.

Second hand shops are a must. Sometimes I just go out and explore and see where I end up hitting every second hand shop I see.
Picked up WipEout 2097 and Silent Hill for $5 each.
I wonder if Grinchy will give me $100 for my copy of The Grinch on PS1? lol.
But really back then, pocket money couldn't afford all the games I wanted and to be honest I never took that great of care with them anyways.
I do like PSN releases tho, specially since they work on PSP, PS3 and soon PS Vita. SONY stuffed up not making them compatible with their tablet / Droids (You have to rebuy them or somethin).Last edited by mickice; 10-12-2011 at 13:17.

Yep, even for current gen games, 2nd hand shops rock. What ones do you recommend? Any decent ones in the Sydney area? I usually just hit up Cash Converters. Bought quite a few PS2 and PSP games for uber cheap there.
Also yeah, I did buy FFVII on PSN just to play it on my PSP on the go. haha

Some of the ones in Sydney have had a rather poor selection. PS1 games are alot more rare than say PS2 or 3.
There was one Cash Converters down south tho where I got the WipEout and Silent Hill that was alright.

I still have the most precious from my PS2 collection: ZoE2, Okami, MGS3:Sub, Kingdom Hearts 2 and Shinobido. I am going to start getting some of the old PS2 games again now I have joined ebay.

I'll never make the mistake of getting rid of my PS2 games. So many good ones in my collection. Digital Devil Saga, Nocturne, Xenosaga, and a lot of other kickass games I never plan on letting go of.

I used to have a nice, not-too-many, library of PS1 games and now they're all gone because I didn't take care of them like I was supposed to. So, I'm in a position of buying them again in digital but I think it's best if I start collecting them in physical copies again. I gave away all my PS2 games to my cousin when I should have known that he was going to mod my old PS2 that I also gave away. The most stupid move ever, I know. I lost codebreaker which is extremely rare and yeah, I cheat and I don't care because I'm having fun playing games either way, cheat or no cheats. If they don't make a Fatal Frame Trilogy HD collection then I might consider buying a PS2 slim and getting all three of them might just be that reason to own a PS2. Plus, I still have some PS2 games I kept like FFXII Collector's Edition (DAT steelbook case), Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. So yeah, I'm buying those games again because they are awesome and they're really worth to own for me.

I have recently been doing this as well. It's a good way to see how well old games stand the test of time, especially ones you haven't played before. An honest playthrough with no nostalgia goggles that turns out very enjoyable is a special thing

Yeah, I traded in my ps2 and all my games when the 360 came out, and recently I not only bought another ps2, but went and bought all the games I remembered 2nd hand for about £2 each XD

But some old games are just that good. Like these I recently found in a Cash Converters down south (Wollongong) guy sold them to me for $4 each!
Black label:
Cool Boarders
Formular 1
Gran Turismo
Greatest Hits:
Gran Turismo 2.

Playing GT1 again feels so gooooood it's like someone has taken some of the original gray plastic from the PS1, ground it up into a fine powder and parted it into a line and I snorted it up type good.

Oh wow, pretty good pickups.
I didn't mean to say that any older games were BAD, Its just hard enough to keep up with new games let alone play older ones too ><
Especially since I got a 360, and I'm pretty much playing a few new games on that as well as trying to get all of the good games on it I missed over the years.
Challenge accepted.

I only get to play the 360 when I visit my brothers, they have Forza and that and I got them a logitech wheel.
But the majority of my gaming is on PlayStation and sometimes I don't want to play a thing, other times I wanna play 10 games at once. Ugh.
It's good to finally have GT 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
I'm also lucky in that I have a steady job in a Deli which doesn't give you any nasty at home work. Once my day is over I can go home and game.
