    Probably both for TRF.

But my favorites are Fast Five, Horrible Bosses, and X-Men: First Class

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, Warrior was pretty great too, but a little sad though.

I wanted to see Moneyball, what did you think of it TRF?

I don't find the movie arthouse or avant-garde. It's simply a more psychological approach. The storyline in the 50's is more of a series of memories than a traditional storyline.

Best movies from what i have seen so far this year:

    - Tree of Life: quite a cinematic experience
    - Man from Nowhere: reminds alot of taken just much better
    - I saw the Devil: a unique gem
    - Tucker and Dale vs Evil: great independent horror comedy, tyler labine rocks
    - Rise of the planet of the apes: great movie, i like how it builds up and doesnt try to be to epic
    - Paul: Simon pegg/nick frost flick, nuff said.
    - Transformers: Dark of the Moon: i loved the transformers as a kid in the 80s, i enjoyed this movie quite a lot, it was better then the second one but not as good as the first.
    - Green Lantern: So many did not like this movie, i dont quite understand why, it was the most enjoyable movie based on a comic book this year for me, ima big Ryna reynolds fan though, so that might be part of it.

    Avarage movies:

    - Drive: didnt turn up as good as i had hoped, it had a good and slow build up, but it didnt deliver the last 15 minuts in my opinion.
    - Crazy, Stupid, Love: Overrated in my opinion, it took 1 hour for the movie to get entertaining sadly.
    - Super 8: a good movie but nothing special, im a big Lost and Fringe fan so i had high hopes when it comes to JJ abrams.
    - Cowboys & Aliens: Enjoyable sci-fi movie.
    - The change-up: Funny movie.
    - Horrible Bosses: Funny but not as good as the change-up.
    - Fright Night: quite an ok movie, didnt remember much from the original but this one was nothing special.
    - X-Men: First Class: was a bit dissapointed, i thought Wolverine was better.
    - Thor: an average comic book movie.
    - Source Code: Good movie but nothing special.
    - Fast Five: A good action movie, nothing more, nothing less.
    - Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides: Quite avarage, might be time for depp to move on from this franchise.
    - Just Go with It: As an adam sandler fan i did enjoy the movie but it was abit below average probably.
    - Kung Fu panda 2: Funny but nothing special.
    - I am number 4: Started good but it had a bit to much teenage drama which kind of slowed it down.
    - Unknown: A good thriller.
    - No Strings Attached: Below average romantic komedy.
    - The Lincoln Lawyer: A solid thriller, could have been better though.
    - The Green Hornet: I enjoyed this one more then i expected.
    - Hobo with a Shotgun: it had its moments, i would not reccomend this movie unless your drunk while watching it

    Most disappointing:
    - Rio: Might be funny for kids but not adults (unlike most modern animation movies)
    - Red state: im a big kevin smith fan, had high hopes for this one
    - Hangover 2: wasnt dissapointed really since i didnt have high hopes for it but it wasnt a very good comedy, horrible bosses was better.
    - Captain America: The First Avenger: I love movies based on comic books but this one was dissapointing and boring at times, it started quite promissing but i left the theather with a feeling that i wasted 15 bucks.
    - Sucker Punch: What can i say... i had high hopes for this one and was quite dissapointed.
    - Rango: i love johnny depp and animation movies but i just couldnt get into this movie.

    I probably forgot some titles.

    Once more into the fray.
Into the last good fight I'll ever know.
Live and die on this day.
Live and die on this day.

The Tree of Life was one of the few movies I've ever turned off halfway through. After about 20-30 mins of random nature/space shots I was just too bored. Normally I would just sit through a movie and finish it, but my wife had fallen asleep and I wanted to play some MW3 so I turned it off. The next day I couldn't be bothered to finish it so I just mailed it back to Blockbuster.

I mean, the movie was different and many of the nature/space shots were quite beautiful, but it wasn't keeping me interested and I had better things to do.

Nope or at least not by me. Of all the movies this year that one is the most suited for the phrase "Not for everyone." Hell I can even relate to him turning it off to play games. If I were with my friends, same thing would happen. It's the only movie I've watched were I'd rather watch it alone, or maybe one other person that I know is interested in it.

It's an experimental movie and it asks question to stimulate the intellect... rather than answering them.

I haven't seen Hugo, but my list with that exception...

    Best:
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (love Fincher's style)
    War Horse
    Drive
    Contagion

    Honorable Mentions:
    The Tree of Life
Mission Impossible 4 (Brad Bird is da man)
    Moneyball
    X-Men: First Class
    Rango
    Fast Five (great carnage)

...might be a few I missed.

You know, I didn't wanna say anything because I was afraid of being bashed, but I wanted to give this movie a chance, but I couldn't get into it. But I LOVED the cinematography and the effects. Just beautiful.

    My favorites are as follows:

The Adjustment Bureau: it had bad critics ratings, but I don't know why. I though it was very good. I really liked the black adjustment bureau guy. When he said "we don't lead by emotion", I found myself empowered by such an outlook on living. It seems very noble.

X-Men First Class: Very well-put-together superhero flick. Still by-the-numbers in structure, sure, but the characterization was done with care for once and it really made this one stand out from other popcorn superhero films.

Horrible Bosses: Great comedy! Better than I expected.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes: I haven't seen it yet, and I hear great things. Just putting it on here since I anticipate it will be soon once I see it.

Contagion: Possibly not a movie I'd see again, but it was very enjoyable for how realistic it felt. It really sold that "real world quarrantine" impact and feeling.

2011 Most Dissappointing (that I saw) are as follows:

    Tower Heist: lol
Transformers Dark of the Moon: REALLY good parts that outshined anything in the trilogy, but was overall a new low for the trilogy.

I do agree with this post.
I watched the The Big Bang and I don't like it(just my opinion).
The Rise of the Planet of the Apes the best movie in 2011 for me.
