PS3 crashes during chapter 8

So I finally got around to playing U3 today and everything was going smoothly until I got to Chapter 8 The Citadel. Every few minutes into the game the TV goes black because the red light on my 20gb PS3 starts flashing and beeps 3 times. This has happened three times already. I can eject the disc and reboot the system with no problems but at this point U3 is unplayable.

Any suggestions?

Try playing some other games, or start from an earlier chapter again, and see if it shuts down on your like that again. If it does, the ch. 8 is just a coincidence.

Id never play uncharted 3 again, you could brick your ps3, watch out.

Yeah. I know. I really want to finish U3 though.

I'll pop another game in like F34R suggests when I get back to my PS3 and see how that goes.

Flashing red light means you are close to YLOD.

That's just perfect. Better back up my save data then.

Played WKC II for a couple of hours w/o any problems. Now I'm too afraid to play Uncharted 3 again.

Im surprised that old 20gb is still working. Uncharted 3 seems to really push the gpu and I bet that if you replay any chapter right now it will shut itself off in a few minutes. There is nothing wrong with Chapter 8. Right now I would open that console up and clean out all the dust that is caked in there. You will be very surprised how much dust you will find.

Mine didn't crash....but....I kept hearing this LOUD fan like noise back in my media room when I was playing (i left my door open by accident). Holy mother of god, I went to check, and the fan on my PS3 (40gb model) was SCREAMING bloody murder. I can't imagine it could have been spinning any faster. This game is really pushing these older systems.

this just happen to me. i have a 60gig ps3. i got to the castle part and then my ps3 just beeped 3 time and turned off.i put cod black op's and it started but turned off.now it just has a red blinking light.the game won't even come out.

Sony will get the game out for you if you send it in to be replaced with a refurb ps3. Also since your PS3 is just a brick now you can try shaking your ps3 and bumping it to get it out. I would know I've had two PS3's (both old 60 gigs) die on me (one had MGS4 in it and sony got sent it to me).

Also, OP you need to back up your HDD and thank God that black friday is right around the corner because it's time to update to a Playstation 3 Slim (much quieter and more compact). Sure it's not as pretty but it's way more reliable.

I don't think this is just U3 related. My friend has a 60gb thats having a hell of a time trying to play MW3 and BF3. Looks like these new games are pushing them way too hard

Thats what just happen to me & it the second time at the same place it did last week, not sure what chapter, it was the part you chase the english dude through the city, but I've competed it before?
has a update broke the game or something.
