incase your like me and think the new thumbs up and thumbs down icon look ugly and out of place? heres your tip first download adblock plus, i wont give link due to admins and mods not liking this software in first place, anyway once downloaded you can just right click the thumb up and down then click add to blockable images, and walla complete goneonce i work out a way to get rid of the bar also il post here! thank you for your time
edit seems bottom part is part of the forums skin, will keep trying to though.
edit seems like text is part of the forum itself as blocking the skin script still has the text appear
holy shit ive done it, ok its a firefox extra called foxreplace, now once its downloaded use filter post thanks/like and replace with spaces or i hate this whatever floats your boat, then have address as www.psu.com/forums, now this text will be blocked and replaced with whatever you typed.
we win!

Or you could just ignore the like/dislike buttons. It's really not that big of a deal.

I can understand why some people are against the addition of the like / dislike buttons... but are they really that bad? Short answer: No.

Hiding them for yourself isn't going to solve the issue (as you see it). The issue with something making the forum look cheaper is that guests and visitors of the site would be less inclined to join. That's where the issue with something making the forum cheap and unprofessional comes in. Hiding them for yourself serves no actual relevance to solving the issue you clearly feel strongly about.

I have no way to personally get rid of them on the forum itself, im only offering a way for people who also feel the same way as i do to also be able to hide them. Its not like it took me a long time to do, and i had nothing else to do, if nobody else does it thats there own choice, this is all about choice, every user no matter how small has a choice on what they want to do on this forum.

Grease monkey might be better allsorts of things can be done with it.
adblock just blocks the images and leaves spacing but greasemonkey can change layouts and stuff.
The likes and dislikes are on the wrong side they should be in the "right" so on our own poasts the spacing of the "+rep" and "report post" (yes I might want to report myself for being a twat one day) is unchanged.Last edited by keefy; 11-07-2011 at 00:29.

Yeah, I did this with Adblock+ on Safari when they were added just to try it out - works great. I also managed to block the shout box, and the icons. I could get rid of the border around the icons too but for some reason that broke other parts of the layout.
One could also write their own CSS for the forum to hide the icons and like/dislike buttons if one were so inclined.
