I figured the official thread is about general stuff so I wanted to make a thread where we can specifically share tips and tricks. The game is huge and I learn something everyday. For example, believe it or not, I didn't know that you could stabilize scopes by pressing the sprint button...even though this feature is in every game.
So share anything interesting you know about the game...either how to do something or something you'd learned in it recently. It can also be tactics and things of that nature. Anything to help out a fellow BF3 player.
Here's my question: How the f do you use Soflam?

Actually I did too lol. I think I'm gonna use that instead of AEK, which is also a good weapon but the kick is higher...F2000 is just a monster but it's not good for long range...which is rare in BF3 anyway. I generally shoot people at medium range.

I seriously can't wait to unlock that gun.
This game is just so freaking awesome. I love it! Too many things to unlock and it's fun unlocking attachments for them.

Here are some tips.
-Don't run around in the open. Use cover or compressed areas where the enemies usually don't notice you
-Don't rush in heated areas, instead try to flank them
-Rockets do more damage to tanks from the back so don't hit them directly.
-Change controls of your helicopters and airplanes so that you can pilot them better
-P2000 is a really, really good gun
-Communicate with your team!. I screwed up once and failed to warn my teammates about landmines >_<
-Flying jets isn't always fun and you hardly do much for your team. You want to get rid of that enemy chopper?: Use Stingers!
-Being medic will make you friends and you gain more points that way.
-Lastly, don't do things on your own.

I just remembered one interesting thing that happened to me today.
When you're looking through a scope with a bipod on, it won't let you go above a certain point but for some reason it let me shoot up (pretty high up) even though the gun wouldn't let me see through my scope anymore.
Oh another thing, when you have your bipod on, you don't have to aim to shoot accurately, you can just shoot without aiming and it will still be fairly accurate (if not as much).
One more thing! I was playing single player and I realized that if you are aiming through your RDS or iron sights, if you press the fire button as you're releasing the aim button, the reticule still stays accurate as if you were aiming through your scope.
Try it. Not sure if it works in MP but it did in SP so it should.

I loved this gun in the beta but my issue with the gun is 1) It reloads too slow. 2) It's weak at medium range, you have to hit people like 6-8 times to get a kill.
But it's pretty stable. Definitely the most stable gun I have seen yet...though it is inaccurate at medium range.

Heres a tip, when getting into vehicles with more then 1 seat, don't leave them behind like a douche since they can help you.

If you're not in immediate danger while driving a vehicle and someone is trying to repair it then don't drive off. It's not in your best interests to go into a fight in a tank with smoke pouring out of it.

Yeah, it happens far too often someone will jump into a vehicle and just drive off, leaving you to run about a million miles.
Also, I'd like to add - Don't be a cunt and steal a vehicle. If an engineer jumps out to repair the vehicle they're using, don't you dare jump in and drive off.
If you die before I die, I'll carve your name out of the sky

Anyone know what the best controls are for jets and helicopters? The default one make them really hard to use.

OMG ppl spot! SPOT (hit select on an enemy when your crosshair is on them)!

Whats one of the best and most accurate weapon for the support class?
How can I improve aiming as I really hate it?
Tips
Dont forget that you can customize your soldiers set in the spawn menu.
Teamwork is the key to victory.
Change your camouflage depending on which map you play.
Use the full auto and burst fire feature on rifles.

don't always run, if you don't run, you don't show up on the radar screen.Hard work never killed nobody but I ain't taking any chances

I use lefty for jets, other one as default.
For helis, I use southpaw with lefty. Works for me.
THIS! don't run, you show up on the map, I should know I use mortar a lot.
Also, using suppressor can be good if you're into stealth...well for obvious reasons but again, you won't show up on the map (I think, I haven't tested this yet but it would make sense).
I noticed that whenever I play rush and I go slow, I do way better...and it's much more enjoyable. Once you get into that mode where you just wanna rush and die...it's hard to stop that and you will likely lose.
There are times when you NEED to rush because your teammates are too dumb but generally speaking.

You or a teammember need a javelin to use with it. Basically you position the SOFLAM and aim the camera where vehicle traffic will be in view long enough for it to lock on, anybody with a javelin (I believe vehicles have something for it too but I dunno for sure) can pretty much instantly lock on to vehicle and take it out.You can also change aim on the SOFLAM remotely, you don't need to be anywhere near it to use the camera angle (you can also spot people in camera mode) Just put it down and screw around locking on to vehicles, hopefully somebody on your team notices and whips out a javi.

Massive tip.
Drop your squad and start another if one of your team is a camping sniper.
Had a game on Noshahr Canal (I call it Nose Hair Canal, in case you're interested) where a squad member was lying on the deck of the bloody ship sniping. The entire game. Infuriating when the closest you can spawn to something is the base. When your other team-mates are dead, that is.
Oh, and this sniper got 1 kill. I can understand it if you can rack them up but 1 kill. 1. One!

So what is the purpose of the laser sight? I feel like it gives your position away and that's it...
