Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Gather Together

Got to have such a thread, don't you think?

Here you can share your experiences, discoveries, and techniques. You can also ask questions, or surveys, or even videos that are MW3 related.

Alright are you ready for a long list of questions?

In the description of Javelin under launchers, it says that it can be used on location and vehicle lock-on. How is it exactly used on location?
-The Scrambler under Tactical/Second grenades, does it jam the enemy radar ONLY in the small highlighted circle on the map? And when do you usually use it?
-EMP Grenade, how are they used?
I haven't unlocked Trophy System nor Portable Radar yet, but I have no idea what are these for either.

    Perks:
-Recon: 'Explosive damage paints the target on the mini-map' From what I understood is that when an enemy gets damaged by explosives (not sure if any of my team's explosives or mine) then said enemy gets painted/spotted on map. If what I said is correct, how long exactly do they stay that way.

-Marksman: 'Identify enemy targets at longer range.' Not quite sure what they mean here. I thought I spot enemies when they fire/spotted, or I physically see them. Not sure how this perk helps me with that.

    Support Strike Package:
-What is the advanced armor one receives from Juggernaut Recon's care package.
-Just need confirmation on this one: the Escort Airdrop, drops several care packages for my team and defends it by fending off closer enemies?

    What's everyone's favorite weapon/main?
In every CoD, I always use LMG. I like the feel of holding a large, slow yet powerful machine gun and shooting while the gun being fed by a belt that is hanging from the gun's side box.
Having that as my weapon of choice, I almost never reload. That makes the first perks group slightly useless to me, as Slight of Hand is the only perk I find useful from that group.

In the second perks group I'm always torn between Quickdraw and Assassin, both of them are extremely useful, especially the latter; stops the unfair deaths for being spotted.

Also, did you get used to the maps yet? I still find myself not focusing to memorize the maps. Almost all of the time I run aimlessly like a lost sheep, hehe.

What is everyone's choice of the best mode to gain exp? I find Team Defender to give abundant exp when played well.

    P90
    +Kick
    +Rapid Fire

    Secondary weapon:
    MP9

aim the javelin where you know someone is hiding and it will lock on , then fire....providing the enemy doesn't move away from that location you should get kill

-The Scrambler under Tactical/Second grenades, does it jam the enemy radar ONLY in the small highlighted circle on the map? And when do you usually use it?

Yes, and I've never used it

    EMP Grenade
    , how are they used?

For me my set up that I seemed to have success with is

    UMP 45
    Kick
    2 Attachments
    Red Dot
Silencer (Don't show up on radar at all with this and Assassin Pro)

    Secondary
SMAW- Nice when you get overwhelmed by people or run out of ammo.
    Perks
    Sleight of Hand Pro
    Assassin Pro
    Stalker Pro

    Streaks
    Support
    UAV
Ballistic Vest or Recon Drone (You get crazy experience on the more wide open maps)
    Advanced UAV or Stealth Bomber

I change it up depending on what I'm feeling. I got 2 classes set up differently with the same gun and perks just different streaks.

I also use a similar set up with Scar for larger maps. Haven't really found many set ups that feel good to me besides this.

Juggernaut Recon is Riot Shield and Pistol but yet very effective.

Yes on the Escort Air Drop. Very nice because it usually gives you great goodies.

Javelin you hold it on a spot and it locks on to the area.

Scrambler only jams enemy radar and Recon Drone probably a few others too in the area of the circle on the radar.

Emp is best used on Sentry turret and UVGs also if a Recon Drone is close to you it also works. Not sure if it brings down Red dot for a shorter amount of time than the actual EMP streak.

I found Marksman pretty useless TBH. I think if you liked to snipe it might would help.

Hope that helps Maybe others can clarify your other questions.

    You mean either Kick+Red Dot/Silencer or 2 Attachments+Red Dot+Silencer
Since you can't have Kick + 2 Attachments.

So I throw an EMP grenade at Sentries, SAMs and such? They would get blown up instantly?

I see, but what does it do exactly?

    ___

Just had the most personal epic match evar! 26 kills to 6 deaths.
Here's a strategy I use for the Support killstreak: Have Remote Sentry and Escort Drop, place the Remote Sentry in front of the area where the Escort Airdrop is dropping the packages, and slaughter each and every motherf**** who tries to claim the goodies. Need to have strategic area to place the Sentry where it wouldn't get blown up easily and an open area for the packages to drop on. You might think that no one would come, but they ALWAYS come to get the goodies.

Got level 52 today, and mastered the MG36 too, love the golden skin. Can't wait for the beast M60E4, which unlocks at LV72.
I also did one of the daily challenges: flash/stun an enemy and kill them with a throwing knife, was funny as hell!

From what I understand is the tag shows up faster over enemies that are far away that if you were just to pass over them at a distance at least what I got from it. There is a set up called 2 attachments yeah I forgot that it takes away the ability for kick. My bad.

As for EMPs wouldn't waste it on Sam since you can knife them by walking behind them and they don't shoot at you. Mostly just the things that can kill you within secs like the sentry turrets and the remote drone that you can drive around. It disables them for good.

KDR is Kill Death ratio. Kills divided by deaths. If it is above 1 then you are doing ok. Although I'm striving to keep it consistent at 1.5 to 1.75

Yeah Marksman is pretty useful against campers that blend in really well. You'll find yourself seeing names when you cant even see the person at all. I run it on my ACR class. And since this is an open "question" thread, I've got one. What does this little icon with the + in it mean?

I've been wondering about that icon as well. It looks to be an indication that you have a group in common with someone on Elite, most likely the cod_elite group that you're automatically part of when you sign up. If you do not have Elite, then my entire explanation has been shot to hell.

No idea what that icon indicates.

What gives best stabilization when firing: kick, stability, steady aim, or grip? and do they stack?
Well, you can have kick+grip+steady aim, or stability+grip+steady aim. But not sure if they stack or I'm better to replace one of them with something more beneficial.

Well, kick and stability apply to two different instability issues so it all depends on which one the gun you're using suffers from more. Kick is recoil, up and down instability where stability helps with sway, or left/right instability. Obviously kick is going to be less useful on a gun with low recoil and more sway, while stability isn't going to do much for a gun with high recoil. Steady aim is obviously only going to be a benefit during hip fire or with akimbo weapons, so it's probably not worth it if you only hip fire 10% of the time or less, I'd even go as far as saying it's useless unless you hip fire 50% or more, but that's just me and I never use it. The pro variant is a different story if you want the faster weapon ready after sprinting. I think there are better Tier 3 perks overall than just the benefit of faster aiming out of sprint.

    Holy mother f.......
I've spent countless hours in CoD's online ever since CoD4. Played, WaW, MW2, BO, MW3, and I just knew what does 'hip fire' actually means. Haha I'm laughing at how funny it is. I can't believe how convinced I was in every game that Steady Aim increases the accuracy of 'aiming down the sight,' which is another term I just familiarized myself with.

    This changes basically everything.
How can one tell on which weapon kick or stability is best used? for example LMGs? Or is it different for every weapon of every group, and it requires personal testing to know?

You could probably find the info online somewhere from people who have already done the trial and error. It's different for each weapon and each type. I found some tips on the CoD wiki.

Speaking of Akimbos. They need to nerf those things fast! My buddy uses them duel wield with sniper class. You literally die within a half a second if you get hit by them.

Whoa sub-machine guns own! Why did I ever choose LMGs? We die in matter of milliseconds, might as well choose the fastest weapons. Seriously, my performance rocked-jumped after starting using UMP45.

Same here. Although since I got used to the feel of the SCAR I have gotten much better with it as well. About even as far as the difference in performance with the guns goes.

Assault rifles are quite fast, so yeah. I wonder if akimbo'd machine pistols are more superior than submachines. Gotta try 'em!

That was absolutely not the case in MW2 or Blops, I'm glad to see them back to being useful again.

The AK74U from Black Ops says hi. That thing was ridiculous how fast it killed another player with rapid fire. So easy I would almost consider it a noob gun. I know a lot of my friends that played MW2 always complained that the UMP 45 was really overpowered on there as well.

Only 3 classes that I used in Black Ops was Commando, AK74U and Silenced Spas 12.

I say hello back to the gun I had over 5k kills with, and only gave up on it towards the very end for the AK47. The ak was much better at longer range and didn't really give up much to the rapid fire 74u. Same thing in MW2. Only I hardly used the UMP, the rifles were much easier to get kills with at longer distances. Both MW2 and Blops supported long distance kills much better than MW3.

Indeed they are much better with longer range. But most of Black Ops maps were geared more for closer range. Minus Array, Some of WMD, and Some of Radiation. Most of the maps favored the closer range weapons more. Biggest complaint that I have had about all the games are that ARs suffer when it comes to "in your face" combat. They practically become useless. But same goes for SMGs but not near as bad. You can hip fire like crazy with an AR with someone standing right in front of you and never get a hit box.

The f***!!? I got to level 67 yesterday with lots of unlocks and completed challenges, I turn it on today to find that I'm level 58 and lost all the progress I made. What the hell is going on?
