    weird PS3 message

I had my PS3 browser freeze twice and after rebooting it with the power button both times it said the file or my hdd may be corrupted. It then said it will reconstruct my files. After it did the "reconstruction" it was fine. Is my hdd getting ready to crap out or what? Anybody else ever get this? I have an 80gig phat. Maybe I should go get a slim?

I've had it once on my 60gig over a year ago, had no idea what it was but it's been fine ever since. You should be fine! (hopefully)

Thanks for that info. It only happened while streaming on the browser but no problems with any games so its propably related to what you just said.

Actually, it happens on the slim too. I believe it is a new message that came with the new firmware update. It used to do the same thing before the update, only it didn't automatically check the HDD and rebuild the database, you had to click on a few screens before. It usually happens when the Browser messes up and locks up. And you have to reboot, it's checking for corrupted files. Think of it as a defrag of sorts after a crash. I have had it happen plenty of times and the system is still OK. It sometimes will also pop up with that message O you want to notify SONY of this problem? I believe it's the same as when your PC browser asks to send info on the failure to Microsoft on Windows. But, just so everyone is aware, it happens on all PS3 systems slim or phat.
