If Skyrim Got GOTY Surly That Means The Industry Looks Over The Flaws

The way I see it;
Games and the Industry as well, look beyond the flaws of big budget games, a lot of the time.
However when it comes to lesser know games (Especially RPG's) with smaller budgets there all ready to tear it to shreds and not appreciate the effort gone into the game!

Still not played Skyrim, hopefully will be by the end of this month!

I agree with the OP.

It all comes down to this.....until this console gen, patches to fix "issues" wasn't an option, so devs that were successful had to put out games that worked 99% of the time. This gen not so much. The release and patch has IMO hurt the industry.

Throw all the reasons you want out about how "games are more complex now" to "just don't buy it then", but this doesn't address the real issue of devs releasing games that struggle to work out of the box.

Fortunately I play my Skyrim on the PC. I think because of this, I have experienced zero gamebreaking glitches. Sure I've seen one or two oddities like the arrows/frost spikes stuck in my body, but that's it. Oh well there was once when I went to get on my horse, but then my character vanished and it looked as if I literally became the horse, then I turned the horse around and found my character left behind floating in midair acting like he was still riding. I thought that was pretty funny, just dismounted, got back on, fixed.

I totally think this game is GOTY material from my experiences.

Skyrim is definitly my GOTY,im having so much fun with it,no other game this year came close.But im playing it on pc tough,not sure how bad it's running on ps3 at the moment.

Well, that's just it. It's the PS3 version. I would love to play the game still and I called it GotY before it even released.

The PS3 version has a game-breaking glitch. That's not acceptable.

So I am right in saying the gaming industry has flaws and that the awards to games just a load of rubbish VGA 2011 Skyrim got GOTY how pathetic.

Game riddled with bugs, Nearly broken on PS3

VGAs are only good for the trailers.

Dark Souls or Arkham City should have got the award, hey id even put MW3 before Skyrim as any problem the game has had the team have been right on it fixing....Unlike Skyrim and those PS3 issues. God forbid Bethsda could make a playable game.....

The majority of the world disagrees. I found the game to be amazing.

The bugs in the game are so minor. And I only came across one single bug in the game in my 80hrs spent with it.

The very fact that this game kept me interested for 80hrs means it is a well deserved GOTY.

Agreed. It's basically saying that's it's ok to release a game which doesn't work.

what annoys me is bethesda must have known there were problems with the ps3 version yet still released it, i will take everything todd howard says from now on with a large pinch of salt.

I have put in 30+ hours into the game(PS3) in a short amount of time. Over the past two years I've had a great amount of trouble putting in 15+ hours of game time into a video game(except for Pokemon). If Bethesda had not released Skyrim on the PS3 I would have had to dish out some $250 on an Xbox 360 or even more if wanted to play it on a competent PC.

Instead I only spent $60, and I've been playing it for thirty-three hours and have only come across one minor bug. But that's just me, I guess I prefer fun, broken games over polished games, i.e. Sacred 2, Alpha Protocol, Two Worlds 2 to name a few.

Just because you don't have problems with your game doesn't mean other people aren't. There wouldn't be a big fuss about it otherwise.

Uncharted 2 won GOTY so there was no way in hell the third was gonna win... Looking at the history of those shows it seems like they like to spread the wealth. I think Batman took home the most awards. IMO they deserved GOTY more than Uncharted and Skyrim.

I would shrug if Batman won it. Skyrim is a far more appealing game and probably easier for people to get into than Batman.
