I'm thinking if Treyarch don't do Black Ops 2, they'll probably move on to a new era. I don't think they'll go back to WW2 and I also don't think they would do modern. I would really like to play a COD game with future/slightly scifi weapons.
Either way, can't wait to see what they'll do considering they are much better than Infinity Ward now IMO.

Future would be cool. I just want an interesting setting, variety is a good thing.

I would like to see a Future Warfare but I think Treyarch is gonna do sort of a Black Ops 2 kinda thing.

They need to take a break from COD. Just lay off the games until 2013 or until the next gen systems. Getting tired of the same old rehashed crap year after year.

The thought of another Call of Duty game is intoxicating. This is the first year that I have flat out skipped Call of Duty, because it simply isn't appealing to me anymore. Call of Duty 4 was great, and had a killer system, but I really think it's time that Treyarch and Infinity Ward try to do it again. We need something new to the series, rather than a bunch of repeats. As far as I'm concerned the time period is irrelevant. Treyarch needs to try to make some of the leaps forward that Infinity Ward did with Call of Duty 4.

I skipped COD this year because Infinity Ward just can't make it fun anymore. Black Ops was AWESOME last year, so much more innovation than Infinity Ward has ever done.

Future Warfare could be there chance to branch out and try something new. I'm not one of the people that wants to see a complete overhaul. They have a winning formula it just needs to be tweaked more to make it more efficient. Let's be honest, most either love it or hate it. They just have so many people that love it they can't really we work the system because they are going to receive a bunch of shit from their faithful. It is a double edge sword. You change it you piss people off and make some happy. You leave it the same you keep some happy and piss others off. It will eventually catch up with them though. They are going to have to change it. Unless it just keeps selling like it does then they can do whatever they want.

Good point. What they need to do is improve their current system, not overhaul it. The problem I have with Call of Duty right now is that it is essentially the same game, but in a different environment and with different weapons. Problem is, the environments and weapons are hardly improved from their predecessors. They might be different, but not better.

I hope so. Set it in on a space station with Russians or Chinese and they have anal-probing weapons of mass destruction that they plan to unleash on the world, giving everyone a painful colonoscopy. Also, zombie russians in space survival mode!

We'll definitely see another game, but whether or not it's in the future or not remains to be seen.

I definitely would like to see change come to the Call of Duty franchise, but a switch to third person is certainly not the right direction. The type of game Call of Duty is isn't its problem. It's the fact that there are still vast issues with the game that have not only existed for years, but have even popped up in some of the most recent titles. I don't remember massive spawn issues in Call of Duty 4.
I'm interested in seeing what Sledgehammer will do (I've heard the same rumors) but I'm weary of developers making that kind of a change to the game. A third person, action adventure title might work for a killer campaign, but I don't think it'll make for an equally exciting multiplayer.SchaffinOSX

i agree but with Treyarch & IW already there sledgehammer are the only ones who want to make a third-person shooter (rumour) but the issue i have is i dont want it to be like those other games on the market, like socom ect it certainly wouldnt suit the franchise tbh. wont mind seeing a change but i will have doubts if sledgehammer do go this way with the COD series. it will totally change everything. i dont think treyaech or IW will ever go the direction that sledgehammer are going but change is always good & bad depending on the outcome.

I have a strong feeling that the Future Warfare game isn't going to go in Treyarch's hands. We all know that Activision kind of keeps them in the corner like a red headed step child. I think they gonna leave that huge jump up to IW and Sledgehammer.

It seems that no one ever bothers to ask this, but what exactly would future warfare mean? I feel that a future warfare theme would completely veer away from the 'realism' that Call of Duty has always strived for. Then again, they seem to have veered from that over the course of the last couple of years. Nonetheless, I'd be interested to see what kind of weapons would be available, what year it would take place, etc. I just don't see how it could be much different from Modern Warfare without being completely ridiculous.
