This is why you don't take these things seriously. I knew that it was going to be disappointing.

"incite" is kind of an odd word. Not used very often, you know?

Cool! Not the most amazing news ever, but still could easily turn out good. At least they're not going (only) the FPS route, or another GTA sandbox copy. This gen needs more strategy games.

This is awesome news in my opinion.
UFO: Enemy Unknown(X-COM: UFO Defense) from 1993 is one of the best turn based strategy games ever made, and to those who were disappointed with the cover... it was stated that this was toward old school gamers, and those that are 18-20 and disappointed are not old school gamers
This made my day period.Last edited by Nuvian; 01-06-2012 at 01:40.

Or you could do some research on the title.
Like Nuvian stated before, this announcement was geared towards old-school gamers. Did they ever specify which genre the game would have focused on? No, of course not. That would have ruined the surprise. I am personally interested in this title because I've been looking forward to playing a UFO-themed video game that takes a serious approach on a worldwide alien invasion.
We know that it's a remake of the '90s classic, UFO: Enemy Unknown, the first of the XCOM titles which focused on turn-based strategic gameplay. And what better development studio to be at the helm than Firaxis Games who have been working on Civilization games for the past decade? I think it's only fair that people hold off on the criticism until you see the game in action or play it for yourselves.Steam & PlayStation Network: BlacksitePSU | 3DS Friend Code: 1349-4916-2054

XCom is awesome! Great news!
It all makes sense now.. After all, the machine is hyped as "The next water cooler" and the fans of this water cooler just love to talk about bottom lines, publishers profit margins and stock prices. The world has become one giant office and I must be the guy they're all saying needs to grow up because I still like having fun.

This is AWESOME, I'm actually playing the original as I was reading through this thread for the first time(*First time reading the thread ofcourse, not playing this masterpiece for the first time). This game was awesome in my childhood and even as dated as it is, it's still awesome and for those disappointed... you sadden me greatly
Granted I could understand the disapointment since it'll probably try and actionise the whole thing and hold your hand through it's entirety removing any of the actual strategy!
if I am in the PS3 or 360 section I will NOT post about the competitor just to please people, if you want to know what I think about the competitor link me to a thread in the appropriate section
