http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/next-...ever-e3/089421Both the Xbox 360 successor AND a follow up to the PS3 will be shown at E3 2012.
The LA show tease will come as Wii U launch details are locked in – and should ensure no ground is lost between competing consoles.
It will mark the very first time in the show’s 17-year history that three fresh, rival console formats will be so directly comparable.
Microsoft has long been rumoured to detail its next-gen plans at E3 2012, and recently signalled to partners this will happen, MCV has been told.
The 360 is one of the longest-serving games consoles in history. But the real surprise is an early move from Sony. Execs at the PlayStation firm have made it clear to third-parties that they will not be left behind this time.
Execs aren’t expecting price or launch details for the new Xbox or PlayStation. But their unveiling could be a perfect spoiler to the pre-Christmas launch date and price that will be revealed for Wii U in June.

Sweet!! Very much looking forward to this E3 if that's the case. Hopefully they can release within 6 months of each other. I plan on getting both at launch

Awesome!
This is a very exciting time to be a gamer.
I know a LOT of people think its too early for a PS4... as they feel that the PS3 has more to offer and hasn't been out that long... well, it actually has been around 6 years now. So a new console is totally due. So keen for these reveals, this could be the best E3 in a longgg time

Oh right, i think that could be to do with your set up as they more or less look the same. I'd imagine they'd use blueray or maybe their own technology. I want them to go back to carts personally.

Nice. Interested to see what Sony has up their sleeve with the PS4. Would be unexpected because we've been hearing a lot about the new Xbox in terms rumours and not much about the PS4
I still doubt they'll reveal anything :P
It probably wont be an issue, especially if backward compatability is sound on the PS4

Cool. e3 really hasn't been all that exciting as of late. I always get excited for it before hand... but when it rolls around hardly care. This though, should be interesting.

New Xbox and new PlayStation 4 set for E3 2012
http://fwd.channel5.com/gadget-show/...et-for-e3-2012
Gamers rejoice, not one slice of massive news has just rolled in but two. Both the rumoured new Microsoft Xbox console and a follow up to the Sony PS3 are expected to be shown at E3 2012 this June.
The latest report comes from a usually very reliable source that claims this year’s E3 show will be the first time in the show’s history that Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony will go head-to-head showing off new consoles.
New Xbox console coming in 2012
Nintendo had already confirmed that its new Nintendo Wii U will be at the show – while rumours have also pointed to the new Xbox console appearing. Now, says the very reliable MCV, Sony will lose no ground on either – by unveiling the PlayStation 4.
The lead-up to the show has seen plenty of new Xbox rumours emerge, less so than a new PlayStation, although an earlier report did claim that major studios are already developing games for a PS3 successor – lending further fuel to the news.
The PlayStation 3 originally launched a year later than Xbox 360. Now it seems Sony is wasting little time. Pricing details are not expected at the show.
If all this is true, E3 2012 will see a new Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo’s Wii U vying for attention. If that isn’t enough to whet the appetite of gadget-loving gamers, we don’t know what is. Roll on E3 2012.
PS4? 'I don't know what you're talking about,' laughs Sony studios bossYet another report pointing to an imminent PlayStation 4 reveal is up in lights this morning, claiming that Sony Computer Entertainment is going to follow up its 2006 PS3 launch with a brand new console, to be shown for the first time at this year's E3.
What's Sony's official word on PlayStation 4? Well, as of a month ago, it denied all knowledge of the rumoured next-generation machine. In an upcoming interview on the development of the PlayStation Vita (read our PS Vita review), we quizzed Sony's Worldwide Studios president, Shuhei Yoshida on the PlayStation 4 and he laughed: "I don't know what you are talking about."
The man ultimately in charge of Sony's in-house development added, "We are still very excited by the PlayStation 3."
The other thing Sony's excited about of course is its impressive new handheld, which hits North America and Europe next month.
In the interview, Yoshida talks frankly about how Sony has changed its development processes to ensure a steady supply of games for Vita, hints at unseen elements of its Cross-play and Augmented Reality features, and discusses how the software teams got involved in its design. It's a good one.
Late last year, SCEE president Jim Ryan stated that allowing Microsoft to get the jump on the PlayStation 4 with its next console would be an "undesirable" situation for Sony.
Look out for the full interview with Sony's Worldwide Studios president, Shuhei Yoshida, in the next few days.

Well its only rumor right now so I'm not going to get all excited about it until its confirmed.

They said the same thing with the Vita and they dismissed all rumors. Sony "laughing" at the rumors pretty much confirms it.

I wanted the PS3 to last longer

More?! Hell, I'm enjoying it a lot, but it's enough already. PS2 was out in the market in 2000, while PS3 saw the shelves in 2006. That's 6 years. It's been 5 years and it probably won't come out until 2013 (guessing) which makes it 7 years between PS3 and PS4. I think the time is due and I couldn't be any more excited. I think I'm even more hyped to see the PSVita-PS4 connectivity now that hardware restraints and input lag are becoming a thing of the past.
