If Sony was to change the controller i'd go back to the DS2's shoulder buttons for the triggers or just improve on the triggers from the DS3. That's my only problem with the DS3. Otherwise it's a perfect controller.

I want a reliable powerful console that will compete with all the competition at a not too expensive pricetag on release. I'm probably asking for too much though lol

Prepare for meltdowns if these next gen console rumors are true. Phase 1: Denial. Phase 2: Mask a lie under "opinion" vs a fact. Phase 3: Bring up the good ol' days when it has nothing to do with the subject. Phase 4: Say that the power gap doesn't matter but constantly defend the specs.

If you want cutting-edge, you should be willing to pay for it too. Otherwise, the PS3 is fine. It's affordable, it has content, basically what some are asking from the next-gen.

Like My N64 and PS1 which still work after 15 years despite me giving them loads of abuse carting them up and down the country and left in icy cold garages over winter, yet I have had 2 PS3 die in 4 years both of which never left my house and rarely moved.
Good luck indeed.

I've only had to replace a single PlayStation 3 this entire generation. I also have an Xbox 360 that has yet to break down. Maybe you're just extremely unlucky. I know that I didn't give my PlayStation or Sega Dreamcast loads of abuse back in the day.

The Nintendo 64 had a lot of problems to. Sure you can find a functional N64 in a pawn shop, but how many of the 80 million consoles do you think are actually still around. The N64 was hell for me to get a game to start up. Constant reties and blowing to get Banjo Kazooie up and running.

Yeah, I remember my friend and I had to blow the inside of several cartridges just to play games like Goldeneye back in the day. I don't know why people act like previous home consoles were somehow flawless. Besides, if you're giving them constant abuse then you deserve to have them break down on you, eventually.

LOL, the regular NES system, everyone had there own workable methods for getting a game to work. Some would blow in the cartridge, some would blow in the machine, I did something different, I would stick the game in just far enough so the back of the game stuck out, then I would push down really hard and it would kind of "snap & slam" in the system and it would work every time. Funny thing is, each person had a different method that always worked for that specific person. :X
