If you're concerned about graphics, I played the PC demo and it wasn't that great graphically. It was solid, but didn't blow me away(I can run everything on max), I haven't seen the final PS3 build footage but I'd be surprised if it couldn't handle the max settings I experienced.
In terms of controls, I'm sure PC gives you more freedom and whatnot - less reliance on hotkeys and wheels I assume.

Two more reviews:
Edge (90/100): "Charting a course through Earth's imminent destruction is as unashamedly difficult as it was in 1994's X-COM. It's possible, through bad planning and bad management, to doom the planet early on, making the game feel unfair. Get it right, however – survive the stresses of management, and the strains of aliens – and you'll feel like the world's greatest hero."
IGN (82/100): "Recently Firaxis has been very willing to try new things with its franchises, and it's great to see both the revival of the XCOM franchise and the extension of strategy games on the consoles. You're still likely to want a bit more depth and surprise in the tactical game, but the campaign is full of tense moments that are sure to keep you coming back for more."Last edited by Blacksite; 10-09-2012 at 04:38.

I played it for an hour last night. Grabbed 5 [Steam] achievements.
Really enjoying it so far.
The PSN demo is also set to drop later today.Last edited by Blacksite; 10-09-2012 at 19:51.

I got the PS3 version yesterday and I played it last night. It plays as smooth as butter.
Execpt when you get flanked by Thin Men. This game is gonna be awesome.
I can't wait to get into it and kill some aliens. I just saved it last night as I was about to start my first crashed UFO level.
But the game plays good and looks good on the PS3. the only thing I couldn't figure out was how to zoom in and out of the battle screen. You can turn the direction it is facing and use the right analog stick to move around but couldn't find a zoom if there is one.Hard work never killed nobody but I ain't taking any chances

I like all of the different alien types. My favorite, so far, are the Mutons. I haven't gotten to the Muton Elites yet but outfitting your soldiers with plasma rifles and better armor whenever you can certainly helps.

Good to know, I will check that out. Did my crashed UFO mission, first one was easy, I am sure they will be much more difficult in the future. Getting ready for an escort mission, but got another squad mate so I have 5 now.
This game is awesome, there are so many choices of things and places you won't see them all.Hard work never killed nobody but I ain't taking any chances

hmm..
Seems my normal/ironman game is nearing it's end, half of the world is in alien control and all I have left is 5 rookies..'no, no one in their sane mind uses OpenGL on PS3' - Repi
'nope, PS3 uses a wonderful low-level API called libgcm' - Repi

Yeah, I decided to start over. I didn't launch enough satellites.
Set my headquarters in Africa, this time around.Last edited by Blacksite; 10-14-2012 at 20:01.

I wish the game had offline multiplayer but it's strictly online. *sigh*
Still pretty entertaining. I'd give it an 8/10.Last edited by Blacksite; 10-14-2012 at 20:00.

It looks like the game could be getting some DLC:
via PC Gamer.
The enemies in XCOM: Enemy Unknown may be very well known at this point, but until now, we’ve known considerably less about Firaxis’ DLC plans. By taking a look at some Steam achievements, however, our research teams down in the labs have been able to extract some potential details.
While you can view the names of the achievements right on the game’s achievements page in Steam, you won’t be able to see the description text for how to unlock them. The image below, posted by user TheSpaceMushroom on the 2K forums, reveals the text to lend some additional guidance to our speculation:

“Confounding Light,” “Deluge,” “Friends in Low Places,” “Gangplank,” “Portent,” and “Furies” all sound like DLCish names. The question is whether these will be separate campaigns, mini-challenges, or missions that integrate into the existing game. We can glean a bit of insight from their related achievements as well: Confounding Light will involve a turn timer, which we’ve seen before in the bomb squad missions.
Deluge seems to involve activating valves which, based on the name, probably involves lowering the water level. A mission that takes place in some sort of downed submarine where your whole squad dies if you take too long would certainly be a new and interesting challenge. Friends in Low Places hints at a new, unique squad member of some kind. We’ll keep interrogating our extraterrestrial captives for more concrete info. What are your hopes for XCOM DLC? (You’ll be hearing about ours later in the week.)Steam & PlayStation Network: BlacksitePSU | 3DS Friend Code: 1349-4916-2054

via Eurogamer.Firaxis has announced the innards of the second patch for superb turn-based strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown and confirmed plans to make the easy difficulty easier.
The patch will be released soon for all versions of the game, a post on the 2K Games forum revealed.
The headline fixes tackle roof visibility issues, game hanging problems and SHIV inaccessibility. That last one is particularly welcome - many players have found their SHIVs (small tanks that take the place of soldiers in combat) bugged so that they can't be used.
Other fixes include the removal of the Snapshot penalty when Overwatching without first moving (go snipers!).
One fix that may or may not make it into the patch is for the defeat screen, which has for some appeared after beating the game. Firaxis is researching this now, but the solution may not make it in time for the second patch.Steam & PlayStation Network: BlacksitePSU | 3DS Friend Code: 1349-4916-2054
