"Microsoft is Lying About Hack"
http://gdinews.com/2012/01/xbox-live-hacked/
another blog..There have been so many claims like this for XBL even Destructoids, Nowgamer and probably others i havent heard about picked it up. Only common denominator between them is XBL and most if not all claim they have not entered their pass to phising sites. MS did tell us that their hardware failure rate was "within industry standard" during the RROD fiasco. Wouldnt really surprise me if they are just covering this up.

It's bollocks is what that is.
Look, it is possible, someone somewhere got hold of a site (gamercard.net comes to mind), which allows you to post you xbox live id.
You might just happen to use the same password to get into that site as you do, XBL.
Boom
You are hacked.
Shit, you could hack this site and do it.
How many people post thier XBL id on this site?
How many use the same password for XBL?
None of that means Live has been hacked. Someone got hacked but not XBL.

XBL hasn't been breached... plain and simple. Wait... I guess it's possible that Microsoft is doing what Sony did. Telling everyone that there hasn't been any breach, and in a week they'll tell us all our details have been compromised. I guess it's possible.

It's funny this should come up as just this Friday I was talking to a mate and he mentioned that about ?80 worth of points (around 9000 points) had vanished from his account and asked if I knew if Xbox Live had been hacked...at the time I had no idea, and didn't follow it up, but it seems pretty clear something is going on.
It was resolved pretty much instantly mind you after a quick phonecall to Microsoft.
Edit: Why oh why does the pound sign keep changing to a question mark....?Last edited by Bhindi_Bhajji; 01-16-2012 at 10:04.

God, its amazing that people are still trying to beat this up.
Are XBL accounts being hacked?
Yes.
Has XBL been hacked? Nope.
MS has done all they could possibly do now, which is limit the number of password attempts at log in.
A lot of thi sis being beat up by people who hope its been hacked, for god only knows what reason.

They originally said that the downtime wasn't due to a hack, but then later said that it was. Then there was evidence that Sony knew it was an intrusion prior to saying it wasn't. I'll look for the link, but that's how it pretty much went.
I'll pm that info so we can stay on topic of Microsoft...Last edited by F34R; 01-18-2012 at 02:06.

look, hacked or not
I will keep saying the same thing. This is nothing new and if no one understands that, then they should not be in this thread talking about it
Its a problem is, its a breach of are rights and personal space. Its a selfish act that anyone can under take with the right knowledge and will power to do so... This to me is not a big deal, because hacking is part of the internet era and when we all accept this is the way it is. The shock and OMG thing will stay for with you for ever and you will not just accept it the way it is...
Its just like good and evil... The balance it right because good as to have evil and vice versa, so the internet has to have hackers to breach its good defence and good defence has to be an attraction to evil, because its evil and it needs to have a counter weight to fight against
their is hacking conventions held around the world by sony, microsoft and nintendo to see how they can strengthen their defence against hackers... But ones that never go to these conventions are the hardcore hackers hell bent on causing chaos and anger across the net and networks we use on the PSN and XBOXLIVE
this is going to happen when the PS4 and XBOX 720 comes it and believe me when i say this
its going to be alot worse on the next-gen console networks, because the more advance the networks are the more advance the hackers will beLast edited by claud3; 01-18-2012 at 13:07.

as far as i can see right now this consists of the 'not very bright blaming their fuck ups on MS'.
you put your gamertag or related email address on the net and, provided you have a relatively poor password, your account becomes vunerable to hackers using pretty simple programs and password lists.
how is that MS' fault?Got YLOD? In the UK? I'll buy it off you.

Sony screwed up big time, but not sure why you are bringing that here.... Sony shut their entire server down they realized hackers breached it. Don't think MS shut anything down or came forward with anything. Maybe it isn't complete breach. Either way, I still am still pissed and distrustful at Sony right now.As for MS, I still don't trust them over RROD and it wouldnt be surprising if they are trying to cover up again. Sony hack is probably magnitude worse, but at least they came forward and admitted....
The general attitude of this sub forum seems to be over zealously defending MS. Honestly, if i had a 360 account, i would want to be aware of this.
here is another one.
"The Xbox 360 has been hacked"
http://www.gamejudgment.com/xbox-360...d-being-edited
I find it ridiculous that some members are blaming hacked victims...I guess people must have decided to put their information carelessly only past 3 months and not before. Those defensive arguments are very weak considering there has been spike in hacked account only recently.Last edited by War; 01-20-2012 at 23:28.

That made absolutely no sense lol. I've yet to see a single shred of evidence that XBOX LIVE has been hacked. I've seen Live ID's being compromised, and exploits in FIFA 12 being utilized, but nothing showing, nor proving, that XBOX LIVE has been hacked as suggested by the OP article, and people here.
