Not Scary: Aliens jumping out of vents. Sure they make you jump, but they don't more you afraid of what could be behind you in the dark while your playing the game.

SH 3-4 = not sure I guess the fear monsters all around you
fatal frame = is all jump in your face
Amnesia = Is the fear of being chased.

ALL GREAT GAMES

Dead Space has all of that all in one. and has the scariest monster models out of other horror games to me. They dont even look like alien.(they are people) it would be like saying SH monsters looks like aliens. and they are humanoid things.

but yeah they do sound like they are kinda faking it.

I've played a lot of scary games (Silent Hill 1-4, Siren, Resident Evil 1-4) but I have to say that Amnesia: The Dark Descent was the scariest game I've ever played. This was mainly due to the incredible sound design, atmosphere, and lack of weapons in which to defend yourself. Not a particularly long game though. You can complete in about 8 or so hours.

I think you accidentally included Resident Evil 4 in your list. I'm sure you meant Resident Evil 1-3.

A few areas of RE4 scared me, such as my first time in the village and the areas with regenerators. Can't say Resident Evil 1-3 ever scared me.

Yeah it starts out real slow and it took me awhile to get into it. Kept getting on and off. 3 and 4 start you out in the middle of things.

I didn't say it was a bad game. It's a fantastic game. I still play it every once in a while. Its just not scary. I wouldn't even really call it survival horror.

But its still a great game.
