How old is Leon?? They changed his look drastically! It looks better and nice visuals, but it seems to be even more action-oriented, and I am not a fan of that.

Resident Evil is suppose to be a horror/survival game. Restrictions like not being able to move while shooting is a great thing for such games. And actually in real life, it is pretty impossible to pull off a shot when you are moving.

Well...I'm honestly not pleased by that trailer. I'll need more info down the road. RE started as horror and now it's just too actiony for me. Like I said need more info first, won't jump to conclusions but it's not looking so for good to me.

Same here, im not going to jump to conclusion yet but I didn't really get a RE feel from the trailer, looks a lot like re5 with the action. I don't see anything about going back to their roots except the zombies from the trailer.

It's so ironic that at the same time today, I see a trailer for shit and stellar. The movie trailer is complete garbage while the new game trailer is epic overload.

I just hope we shoot and movie a bit at the same time (dead space style).

To be honest i'm quite disappointed by this.
First off, i'm thrilled the zombies are back, and it's nice to see Leon in on the action too. However, apart from that, there's nothing here that suggests i'll be anything like going back to the roots of the series. Chris's sections look like RE5 on steroids, with a full cover system, Ganado-like foes that shoot/hurl objects at you, and big action sequences. I mean, one section seems to show Chris in a tank. A tank!
Don't even get me started on the new character, who looks about as generic as you can get. I mean, I thought I was watching inFamous or something, with him executing all these over-the-top melee attacks. Sorry, but this to me is not the direction I was hoping for, and the whole thing just stinks of Gears of War or any other TPS.
I'm also alarmed by how soon the game is coming out. Capcom said it would take years for RE6, and I specifically recall reports on how they were going to reboot the franchise. To me, 2/3 of the game looks just like a logical extension of RE5, albeit on a bigger scale. I'd even be willing to sacrifice Leon's mission if it meant getting something fresh, from scratch like we were led to believe.
I don't believe for one second it would have taken eight years like they originally said, but I thought late 2013 at the earliest. I dunno, it just seems like they've sat together in a room, taken a heap of disparate ideas and throw them altogether in an effort to 'please' fans of both survival horror and action and cash-in on the CoD crowd.
Why couldn't they just make something like Revelations? Or better yet, scrap all that Call of Duty-style urban rubbish and make Leon's zombie outbreak the main game? Also, I think they missed a trick here; Claire should be in the game as Leon's partner, not some random government chick who we've never met.
Chris has had his time in the limelight, he's been in two canonical entries in the last couple of years, Claire hasn't been seen since Code: Veronica. Or better yet, why not have Barry or Rebecca make a long overdue comeback? They can't keep recycling the same characters over and over again.
I will buy it, i'll probably end up reviewing it for PSU in fact, but after everything Capcom has said on RE6, this is not what I was hoping for. I really hope Leon doesn't end up back-dropping zombies or some other bollocks like that....

I don't mind a Resident Evil action game like this, but I want a horror/survival this time around instead of more action...

Figure of speech. The last three Resident Evil games I got (RE4 HD, CVX HD and RE5) were all received as a 'perk of the job' so to speak, so I didn't actually buy them at all, heh.In the end that's all that matters for Capcom.
Also, I can quite easily say i'll enjoy RE6 as a game. However, it's in the context of it being a RE game that i'm disappointed.

agree, the solo re4 gameplay was much more fulfilling... ashley really didn't bother me like sheva did, it actaully added to the intensity knowing i had to protect her and ashley's little detour was just a fantastic bonus!

Horror = clunky?...

Just a thought, maybe there is a separate coop campaign that is more action oriented and a single player campaign that is more like RE4, we know very little at this point but its not that unthinkable that this might be the case.
The above is mainly wishful thinking though, RE5 is the most sold game in the series and more main stream, which means they will most likely follow the same path of RE5 sadly.
------------------EDIT---------------------
Capcom gives new details for Resident Evil 6- more focus on horror, new characters and more
SourceCapcom announced several new details for their upcoming highly anticipated sequel, Resident Evil 6 this morning in Tokyo. After the debut trailer of the game was shown to the audiences, executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, director Eichiro Sasaki and producer Yoshaki Hirabayashi went on to give some details.
Kobayashi promised that the game would focus more on fear this time, as many players have been asking for. This is quite the opposite of what another Capcom exec said recently about wanting to attract the Call of Duty crowd with a more action oriented approach in vein of Resident Evil 5.
Capcom also confirmed that besides Chris and Leon, a third playable character (an ex-mercenary, from what we’ve derived from the trailer) will also be featured. Yes, they will all three be playable, and their stories will be taking place at the same time, 10 years after the Raccoon City outbreak.
Leon’s partner in the game is a US agent called Helena Harper. The regenerating zombie thingie that was shown in the trailer is called Javo.
The relationship between the third playable character and the girl with him (who looks a lot like Ashley) was also hinted at, but it is not yet known if they will be allies or enemies. However, it looks like the game will have three gameplay styles- a horror approach with Leon, an action approach with Chris and an escort missions approach with the mercenary guy.
Players will get a variety of moves this time around, as has already been seen in the trailer Producer Hirabayashi went on to say that Resident Evil 6 would be the biggest game in the series in terms of scale.
We did an analysis of the trailer, deriving much of this stuff and several other shocking things. You might want to check it out here.
This is a bit confusing, i guess we will have to wait until more details are released.Last edited by Nuvian; 01-20-2012 at 16:23.

The way creative directors think right now is to invoke fear through the sense of vulnerability. Clunky controls makes you feel vulnerable therefore elevating the sense of fear. However this is quiet unrealistic, because restricting movements that are humanly possible seems odd.
This game gives me hope that capcom wont rely on clunky controls for the horror aspect.

@Mike +rep well said.
That would be fantastic.
I hope the entire industry doesn't start cashing in on the action gameplay. It's tempting I'm sure seeing how much money CoD is making for Activision but there has to be more than FPS's and TPS's. There must be variety, there just must be.

I thought it looked great. I didn't really become a RE fan during the PS 1 years so I'm not so hung up on Capcom trying out new things. I started playing Resdient Evil with Code Veronica on Dreamcast then I bought RE remake on Gamecube, RE 4 and then RE 5 was a day one purchase. I'll for sure be keeping my eyes on this one but so far it's looking like a day one purchase.

Currently playing? Skyrim (360). White Knight Chronicles (PS3). Majoras Mask (Wii). Final Fanasy VII (PS2). Just completed? Final Fantasy VI.

I think the good thing about RE4 was Leon had the option to say "Ashley....Fuck off"
But I ain't gonna judge RE6, it may better then 5 & the Lost in Nightmares was pretty good, but RE does seem to become a co-op affair.
