Backing up data to my new PS3?

Hey guys!

To make it short and simple, how the fuck do I back up data from my old 120GB NTSC PS3 to my new 320GB PAL one? I seem to be getting this retarded 80010038 error. I've done my research and I've found out that there's some copy protected games that hinder the process. What the FUCK? Seriously? So, I've got to start over my 100+ hours in ME2, R2 and many others. Screw that. Please guys, there's got to be a way to be able to copy all my saves into an HDD to restore them in my new PS3. Please help?

I recently backed up my saves on a usb drive, but I was unable to do it for some games, as they require ps+ cloud save for backing up purposes. I would like to know if there is an option that makes a backup of all your save. I know there is a backup utility, but I've never tried it.

im pretty sure the only way to move copy protected saves is using the data transfer method rather than backup

The only way that's foolproof is to use the data transfer utility. Just follow the instructions and it will work flawlessly. I did it and had no problems and I didn't want to have to redownload over 600 Rock band songs again! Best way without a doubt!

Thank you all so far for your help! I managed to get my new PS3 working in a new TV at home. However, I had a power outage last night while transfering data so I gotta start over, damnit!

That stinks Thor! That was my biggest fear when I was doing mine! But, considering how rarely we lose power, I thought, sure, watch it will happen now! But, it all went easily and in about an hour. Some people will say to used memory sticks, and it will do some saves, but others are copy protected and won't copy this way. The data transfer does everything and when you're done, the theme and everything will be just as you left off.

Turns out I've tried 100 times already and I've got the same error every time when I hit 28%. Tried the file restore system, deleting LBP files and lot of internet research advice, but no fucking clue. Turns out I just went ahead and bought a damn PS+ sub for 3 months to upload my copy protected saves. Please Sony, next time build a fucking working save game transfer system! Jesus.
