I may just cancel my preorder. At some point, logic for me has to set in, Most likely the playstation faithfuls are getting it at launch. Sony has to sell the world on this device. playstation has name recognition, but not so much in the handheld dept.
May wait til sony gets their shit together. They held their cards too close to their chest for far too long.

The same thing that I said last week... price + content > tech. The PSP is an incredible value with an extraordinary catalog of games. Once the Vita has the content to warrant a purchase, and/or a price that competes with what is already on the market, you'll see the numbers increase.

Problem is, only a few of those are gonna bump it in Japan. Eventually it'll start doing PSP numbers though and Sony needed to do better in the west over PSP with this so their strategy should work. They just need to get Japan Studio working on a few first party titles.

Yeah i agree with Fear. Theres not too many games out for the Vita that Japanese gamers are going to be interested in. Uncharted is going to sell the best, because after all it is probably the best gave available. Ive already heard reviewers talking of a certain game getting a perfect 10, which i would assume, is uncharted, but who knows one of the other games could steal its thunder, i do so like surprises.
Once theres a few more JRPG's and more universal titles out (id go so far as to say wait about 1-2 more months) then sales over there will definately steadily increase. The US/Euro launch wont be as poor selling, simply because most of the games currently out on the Vita are desigined more towards us western gamers. I know a bunch of people who are really excited for it.
And with the economy being the way it is right now, the PSP is a HUGE bargain for those out there looking for a new game experience and its gigantic library, so no surprise there. Too many developers are still making PSP games and not Vita games yet.

It's basically stabilized at 15k-ish, so not really worth seeing what numbers they do until they get one of those (silly) games they like.
US, I don't know what to expect, I'd imagine the fan boys will buy it up the first couple weeks, then it'll likewise stabilize at a mark that equates to Japan.
Europe intrigues me though, they have been loving them some Playstation, be interesting to see how they buy this bad boy (and I'd imagine Fifa is going to push some units)

I agree with this but mainly on the basis of the current economic climate. It's an expensive piece of tech and with games being close to home console retail price points, the spend in the long term is fairly high too. Numbers will shift but it's going to be mainly people with a decent amount of disposable income.
My prediction? Similar to Nintendo with the 3DS - a price drop in the not too distant future.

They should have made sure they had a final fantasy/monster hunter ready on japanese release. No games, no sales, it's ps3 all over again...
There's barely any games that will interest the japanese audience at all in the near future, i don't see it getting much better in the sales department even with a price cut, not with 3ds releasing monster hunter, resident evil, metal gear, etc.

The US market is very price oriented. I think the hidden cost of the overpriced memory sticks as well as the pricey software is going to put alot of people off. I think week one sales will be good with a sharp drop off in the following weeks. Sony will then in an attempt to delay a price drop will try introducing enticing bundles that will help slightly but will soon have to be followed by an inevitable price drop.

Tales of Innocence R released 2 days ago and Ragnarok Odyssey is releasing next week, theres 2 JRPGs right there.
It's been on the market for just over a month, give it a chance to get some games released, just like the 3DS. Sony definitely screwed up on the first party offering at launch though with no JRPGs. They shouldve got Level-5 to make something for it for launch.

A Tales game is always nice. This is sure to boost sales, a "little", but they have a lot of catch up to do, again, and 3ds simply has a killer library already, and with lots of games on the way. It's gonna be tough for sony to get devs to chose vita over ds, and if there's games in development they better start annoucing them. They sure are in for for a treat this year with vita in japan.
What they should do is drop the cash on capcom for them to start working on monster hunter vita, that way everybody stays happy(specially me).Sony sell's 1M vita's, Capcom sell's 1M games, and i finally get a new gen monster hunter!!Is that so hard sony?
