Source.Xbox players complain of tightly restricted DLC use

It appears that Modern Warfare 3 DLC downloaded by CoD Elite subscribers can only be played by the profile that downloads it.
Usually, content downloaded to an Xbox console, including games and DLC, can be played by any profile on that console.
But according to complaints on the CoD forums (thanks Joystiq), CoD Elite subs are finding that other profiles on their consoles aren't able to access the recently-released maps for Modern Warfare 3.
This doesn't sit well with users who note that the download's Terms and Conditions clearly state:"You can use this item on the first Xbox 360 console you downloaded it to. Access to this item will also be granted to all users on this first console." An official response on the matter is yet to be issued.
Here's a post I found interesting.
SMH...Activision are really quite scummy, yet everyone likes to polish their barrel...loli've phoned activision twice, i want a refund for Elite. being on ps3, you do NOT get the content "before everyone else" at all. you get it a MONTH after people who haven't even bought Elite for the xbox 360. i have the email with the link to the terms and conditions for Elite as when i signed up for it. and it DOES NOT say that ps3 users will still get the content late if they pay for Elite. in fact, it says the opposite, that we will "get the DLC early, before anybody else". THAT is the only reason i bought Elite, normally, i would see if i fancy the maps before buying DLC (i haven't bought all the map packs like some people for previous games, simply because i refused to pay AGAIN for maps from MW1 in MW2.
guess what, it's impossible to get any sense from them on the phone. i was refused the option of speaking to a supervisor, and was HUNG UP ON the second time. let me be clear, i kept calm, was not offensive, was simply standing my ground, and that was enough to be treated like an idiot on the telephone by them.
i'm off to citizens advice bureau tomorrow to see how i can force them to give me a refund, and i recommend anyone on ps3 do the same. do NOT let these companies con you, you have rights! and those rights include the right to NOT be lied to in order to be sold a product, which is EXACTLY what activision have done with PS3 Elite users.
don't get me wrong, i'm not a sad bitter person about 360 getting their content early. microsoft pay through the nose through that, fairplay. my gripe is with activision clearly stating ps3 elite users would "get the dlc early, before anyone else" which simply is not true. i wont stop 'til i get my money back anyway. and i'm disgraced at the attitude i was shown on their telephone line.
never again will i buy a product by activision, apologies to the devs as i know it's not their fault.

Activision can do whatever they want as long as people keep buying their games and overpriced DLC. It's not right and it's good seeing someone take a stand against them.
It's funny that in this day in age people can steal as long as they have a reason too. Even if that reason is created by the thieves themselves.

Have they released elite for PC yet?

I believe we already knew about this restriction long ago. I remember reading about it before. Is it right? Well, yeah I guess it might be. You can't share the Elite subscription between profiles, what makes you think you'd be able to share the dlc in the same manner?

Because when I download DLC from PSN I can use it on any profile. I'm guessing that no matter the procedure (code, ?0 pricing in PSN or whatever) to give subs the free content, you still end up downloading the DLC from PSN to your HDD as you would normal DLC...Just find it odd.

Elite was always going to be an Activision cash-cow. It's surprising how many people still buy in, though.

Yeah, I'm not. That's why I find it difficult to understand.

this is true...if you plan to buy the DLC...then you might as well buy Elite...
One thing I will comment on is this...i think its absolutely TERRIBLE that PS3 Elite Gamers have to wait on the DLC...if it comes early for Elite members, it should be for PS3 and 360...regardless of what deals MS and Activision have...
it doesn't effect me because i have MW3 on the 360...but its awful IMO that PS3 Elite gamers have to wait till even after regular 360 gamers get it...i know its a business...but i truly wish that developers/publishers would take a stand for their fans and put an end to this stuff...
both sides are guilty of these practices, but ive got to put a lot of blame here on MS for throwing around money bags and getting this ball rolling...

They all do it, and MS is not the leader here. This was being done by Sony and Nintendo long before MS came about. I am still pissed that Bioshock Infinite for the PS3 comes with the original Bioshock for $60, but the 360 version does not come with the original Bioshock and it too costs $60. I understand Sony needs to also shake the money maker here with 3rd party. Granted, I already have the original Bioshock, so not a LOSS for me PER SE, but I will get LESS of a value since I am getting Infinite for my 360 instead of my PS3.
I wish that wasn't the case with the PS3 and 360 Elite DLC. They should get it on the same day. They are really splitting up the community to be honest.

Um, well, the community is split anyways lol. Right down the middle of two consoles.

How is that treating them like second class citizens... overly dramatic I say lol.
This has been known for a while now that they 360 gets it first, then the PS3 gets it next.
360 elite get it before the other 360 users.
PS3 elite get it before the othe PS3 users.
I'm not sure where the confusion ever was.

If one wants it early, then they should buy it for the 360. If they don't want it on the 360, then they have to wait. That's just the way it is. I'm not saying it's right, but it's not something that was just sprung on PS3 users. People just assumed, wrongfully so, that because they paid for Elite, that they'd get it at the same time as the 360 version. The info has been available for a while now.
