I mentioned in the sub section several months ago that I wasn't happy with my employer. I was a bagger at my local grocery store, and I hated every second of it. In turn, I quit. It's been months since then, and I'm starting to turn my mind back towards getting a job. That said, I want to do something that is fairly interesting. Now obviously I'm not going to get a fantastic job at this age, or something that pays loads of money, but there must be something out there that will get me some money and won't be excruciatingly boring.
I'm only 16, and will be 17 in April, so my job options are fairly limited. Just looking for some advice on good places I could work for people living in the US. If I was older, I'd apply to an Apple store, but I believe their age requirement is 18.
So, any advice of specific places / types of places that are good to work for?

Don't work at a movie theater. The pay sucks but you do get comp movies, still not worth it. Undortunatly you are pretty much limited to retail and service jobs as a teen. I've worked at a grocery store for 5 years now and it's the best job i've had. Sacking sucks, but i only did it for like 3 months. I've hopped around from dpt. To dpt. and have kept interested. Right now I am an asst. Office mgr so I basically reconcile the books for the store. It's all gonna suck for you in retail. Just find the one that sucks the least.

Somebody get me a doctor, I ain't feelin' ill ...But I ain't feelin' this at all...

Try some factory work if you're a daydreamer like me. I used to build components or whatever the hell they were for a company and all I did was a couple boxes of one thing, then the other, then the other....and time flew while I listened to the radio on my headphones. Good pay too, and I did that when I was 16 so age requirements aren't a problem. If you're looking for something interesting and challenging though, then that kinda work isn't for you I'm afraid

I worked at a fast food place for 3.5 years from when I was 16- just 19. It was boring and tiring, but at that age money is money. Now I work at a GAME retailer, and many retailers just like it require you to be either 18 or out of school, mainly for increased availability. Have a took around local toy stores, clothing shops, even restaurants (not fast food) for somewhere to work. Those are your best bets imo

i just 'freelance' and make shit loads of money without having a degree or an official business. I give friends/family workout plans, diets, help neighbours with yard work, betting with friends, MMA competitions, help my dad in his office, sell ice-blocks in summer even did street magic when i was younger.
my advice to you is to do what you feel comfortable with. try asking any of your friends, most likely some of them would have connections and you can work with them which will make working much more fun. look forward to do what you do, not many people go anywhere with a negative attitude towards things like making money. think about some of your hobbies and interests. judging by your previous wall of texts, you like writing so try finding some local jobs to do with that. maybe help kids at your school with their homework?

Thanks for the advice guys. I've looked for writing type jobs in the past, with little success. But hey, another look wouldn't hurt. The Costco idea wouldn't be bad, either, so I'll definitely look into that, but chances are (like you said) that the age requirement is at 18.
I did some looking awhile back, and there were two jobs that seemed fairly decent; I could work at GameStop at 16, and be a sales associate at Best Buy at 16, too. I'm not entirely sure on the pay at GameStop, but at Best Buy it was around $10/hr, which is good for someone my age.SchaffinOSX

Australian customers aren't that bad really, I work in a supermarket too but in the Deli. The boss can be nice and we make a good team in the night.
There are age restrictions on the knives and slicers tho.

UPS, you will be busy and you can get buff in the process

Let's be honest: You sleep with anything that walks on two legs. Sometimes, you're not even that discriminating
