Yeah the GO was a failure, I found it funny when Media Create sales came in and it was tracking at 5 sales a week. Not because it was failing, but because FIVE whole sales were being tracked

Software sales weren't great for the PSP, but hardware sales have been good
Yeah man, but only the games that are available on the PSN store. A lot of niche games, as you can imagine, aren't available on the store. But many of the bigger/better titles are. The prices could do with a cut IMOLast edited by Nitey; 02-02-2012 at 22:50.

Was referring to the PSP GO
Not sure what will happen to the LCD division of Sony. They haven't turned a profit in five years. The tv market is a tough business with point levels
dropping at an all time low in the industry. Haier had offered to buy out Sony LCD division a few years back.Last edited by The Sith; 02-03-2012 at 07:51.

Sony's Hirai: We could be in 'serious trouble'
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/4...us_trouble.phpSony president Kazuo Hirai, who took over the role recently, has admitted that the company has tough times ahead, thanks to "one issue after another."
Hirai was named the new Sony president and CEO earlier this week, having taken over the role from former president Sir Howard Stringer. He was instrumental in the early marketing success of Sony's then-new PlayStation video game brand in the mid-1990s.
However, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Hirai said, "I thought turning around the PlayStation business was going to be the toughest challenge of my career, but I guess not. It's one issue after another. I feel like 'Holy shit, now what?'"
With Sony's stock at a low, plus third quarter declines in revenue and a swing to losses year-over-year, Hirai also noted that he needs to make some tough decisions about the future of the company.
"We really need to buckle down and be realistic," he explained. "I don't think everybody [working at the company] is on board, but I think people are coming around to the idea that if we don't turn this around, we could be sitting in some serious trouble."
He added, "We can't just continue to be a great purveyor of hardware products, even though some people expect us to do that."

Sony is going to end up reporting a loss of $3 Billion for their FY11. $1.5 Billion of that was to buy out Ericson and there was a $1.5 Billion loss during the third quarter, probably mostly in TV's.
Several Japanese electronics companies are being hit by the high valuation of the yen. Panasonic is going to report a $10 Billion loss for their fiscal year. The earthquake and Thailand floods are still impacting the supply line. Still, Hitachi reported a $10 Billion loss in 2009 and are going to post a profit of $5 Billion for their fiscal year, so these companies can restructure fairly quickly. So can Sony.
