SourceDuring its 4th Quarter earnings call today, Activision confirmed that a new Call of Duty game will be coming in 2012.
This comes as no surprise since the franchise has seen new titles annually and Modern Warfare 3 has made over a billion dollars. Still, this marks the first time that Activision has plainly stated that a new Call of Duty game will be released this year.
No information on the title was revealed. Previously, reports suggested that Activision may be prepping Black Ops 2, though that hasn't been confirmed. Sledgehammer has been hiring for a new Call of Duty game, and Infinity Ward is working on a next-gen Call of Duty.
More information from Activision's earnings call will be coming shortly.
Keep milking the cow for a game with pretty much no actual good changes like they did from MW2 / MW3 which felt like MW2 with DLC, but hey people don't care if it's the same deal as long as they're getting a new title and they'll buy it no matter what.

Whoa don't criticize COD on here or you'll get attacked.

On-topic: This isn't shocking at all. Hopefully they change things around this time so it doesn't feel more of the same. It's funny that in this day in age people can steal as long as they have a reason too. Even if that reason is created by the thieves themselves.

This is why other genres occupy my time these days. Shooters are just WAY too much of the same, especially when it is an annual rehash like Call of Duty. I've been playing Halo Anniversary a little bit lately, but I don't really touch the online multiplayer unless I'm having a party at my house. I've been killing Infinite Undiscovery with my time tho, and all I have to say is "Thank God JRPGs/WRPGs are the farthest thing from being rehashes!"

Not surprising really, I'd really like them to add more stealth sections in the game though, I think that would help mix up the action a bit.

Thing is if it does change the fanbase will dwindle, look at CS been going since late 2000 (retail game) and still has more players than the latest COD on PC.

I shall continue playing blops and would buy this game if and ONLY if there are wager matches. I talk about how CoD is just more of the same but it really is very fun with the right people. I passed on MW3. Blops still has a good 200,000-300,000 players on 360 at least.

Hopefully back to being fun again with Treyarch making it with new Wager modes. Didn't buy MW3 in the end after my housemate returned it a week after it came out.
Trophy-licious!

I'm always hopeful that the next game could do something new. The fact of the matter is that the Call of Duty games AREN'T bad games. The problem with them is that they're becoming dreadfully repetitive for some gamers. If I've ever demonized the games for being outright bad, I take those statements back now. The games are great, but after having invested dozens upon dozens of hours into Call of Duty 4, World at War, and Modern Warfare 2, that formula has become somewhat boring and mundane for me. Doesn't make it bad. Just means I need a break.
I still think that the earliest I'll hop back onto the Call of Duty bandwagon will be with the next generation, but we'll see. It's been awhile since I've played a Call of Duty game heavily, and maybe this one will re-strike my interest.SchaffinOSX

There are times where i prefer MW3 over BF3 and vice versa.
Two complete different games. One is a tight-arena focused arcade shooter and the other is a large open spaced team/vehicle-based arcade shooter.
There are times when i want to go Rambo and there are times when i want to pilot a helicopter. Unfortunately neither game can settle all my shooter needs so i play both.I Like Games.
