Activision,CoD fans deserve a new engine

    http://www.velocitygamer.com/activis...-a-new-engine/

It’s been a long, long time since 2005 hasn’t it? Call of Duty 2 came out then and he we are in 2012 with Modern Warfare 3. Still running that same engine, just with little updates. I am no Call of Duty hater by any means. I believe the developers at Infinity Ward and Treyarch know how to make the perfect multiplayer game, albeit one with an addictive sales point. However, these games have been growing and growing in popularity since the release of Call of Duty 2, and what has Activison done to help improve the game? Hmm, nothing.
Here we are in 2012 and there’s still plenty missing from the Call of Duty series. We still have no dedicated servers, even though we shell out $60 or more depending on which version of the game you buy. Plus another $60 per year for extra DLC and yet, what have the Call of Duty fans been rewarded with? Nothing. Activision, it’s time for you to step up and make Call of Duty the game it should be. I think any Call of Duty fan who is reading this article would without a doubt agree that it is past due time for an updated engine, dedicated servers and maybe just a little bit of appreciation from Activision for increasing their profits each year.
If the Black Ops 2 rumors are true, I think we can all expect a firestorm of fanboy wars and people saying “oh great, another copy and paste effort.” Each year I hear plenty of people online and offline saying they won’t be purchasing the next Call of Duty because it’s the same thing all over again and end up buying it anyways. I felt cheated as a Call of Duty player from the moment I put MW3 in and started playing online. Jump back into MW2 or MW for a few minutes and see how many major differences you can see, besides a few little game changers and upgrades here and there. Forecasters said Black Ops wouldn’t sell as well as Mw2 and it out did that in it’s first week, same as MW3 with Black Ops. I have no doubt the next Call of Duty will surpass MW3‘s sales as well, and I think we can all bet on seeing the same game once more. Maybe they’ll prove me wrong this year though. It’s all up to the players in the end though if they want a better game

Won't happen this gen, cause CoD players bitch and moan about the lack of innovation in the series, yet devour every new release like some kind of rabid CoD fiend. If the masses will buy the game after 7 years on the same engine, Activision should keep milking their wallets dry with it's old engine and minor advancements.

I think that they should bring vehicles and MG encampments back. I believe it was CoD2 that had jeeps and tanks. That way they can make larger maps and make sniping a viable option. They can have every mode DMing, CTF, Domination you name it. But then have to option of playing a big game or a small game of that mode. Do you want to do domination on small non-vehicle maps OR larger maps with vehicles? Your choice. And of course add a larger amount of players allowed on big map, 18 or 24. It would be nice to mix it up like that. You're not going to be playing a large kind of full scale warfare type map the same as Rust from MW2.

So just give people the option of playing a large or small map and add vehicles to the large maps. KEEP wager matches I love those.

Activision should at least get dedicated servers for COD if nothing else.
It's funny that in this day in age people can steal as long as they have a reason too. Even if that reason is created by the thieves themselves.

People always flame me for saying the graphics need to be updated and improved instead of running on the same old engine, and yet now there is a whole thread about it, lol. The engine should definitely be updated for once; Bad Company 2 to Battlefield 3 was a great jump; we should expect the same from Call of Duty.

Plenty of people complain. Tho you simply ignore it or call it heresy.

That sounds more like a fanboy. Why wouldn't you want an updated engine and dedicated servers? I don't believe the notion that people are too busy playing the game to take 5 minutes out of their busy schedule to offer an opinion.

It's about time. I lost interest in this series since CoD 4, but a new engine could make it come back. CoD 2 was one of the best multiplayer games I've played, nothing came close after that, just the first Modern Warfare.

MW3 doesnt even use dedicated servers on PC for ranked matches consoles have no chance the PC crowd bitch and moan 10 tiems more about dedicated servers because MW1 and WAW does use them then MW2 came alone and removed what was a pretty standard feature for FPS games for many years.

Want dedicated servers get CS:GO when it releases I doubt COD will ever get dedicated again on the scale it did for COD 1 2 and 4.

Also Source engine is another engine that just gets upgrades and is still DX 9 and it is based off an even older engine than COD engines.

Ok I know what I said doesn't really relate to games engines

I don't really have a problem with how the games 'look' honestly. Graphically the games look very nice. If they need a new engine for technical reasons ok but I don't think the games look bad. There is already a lot happening on screen at once but if a new engine can allow more cool stuff to be happening everywhere that's awesome.
