FYI (didnt see this mentioned here) I found out that the Vita will charge via USB if you completely turn it off (hold power button couple sec, click on "turn off").Won't charge if on or on sleep mode.

It's not Vita's fault I think, the USB output has not enough power to charge the console while using it. I read something like that.

I remember the PSP-3000 would charge via USB. I only remember doing it with the machine on tho.

Probably 'cos the Vita needs a lot of juice to charge while also being played

Yeah the normal PSP would charge via USB, but the power requirements for the Vita are just too great at the normal voltage provided by standard usb connections. You can use an app on the PC to fix that though.
