I don't know where people are getting the idea that we hated the game in general when we're just complaining about the ending. Anyways the majority of the talk here is all about the ending. Let's just pretend that the end doesn't exist and just focus on what we thought about the rest of the game. I'll start.

Was anyone surprised by how long the Reapers have been in existence?. My first thought was that they were created hundreds of thousands of years back but the creation of the Crucible was put together little by little for millions of years!(Note: I have yet to play ME so this is news to me). I'm also guessing that the Citadel was built millions of years back?. Just imagine how many advanced civilizations existed throughout those time periods.

Let's just pretend that the end doesn't exist and just focus on what we thought about the rest of the game. I'll start.

This is why I love the series (for the most part lol). The scope of what has come before you is insane.

Dunno if you got Javik, but I love when he talks about when the Asari, Humans, and Salarians were primitive and how the Salarians used to lick flies off their eyes! .

What I found interesting also, were the relics and paintings of Protheans as gods in Thessia, and how even someone smart and well educated like Liara was doubtful of Protheans role - makes you think about the Egyptian lore and their gods, and their possible links to alien life.

I'd love to talk to whomever is the lead story designer for the series, and not only speak to them about the ending, but about the lore of the universe.

I just finished the game, i was dreading the ending since there have been so much complaining about about it, i thought the ending was awesome, i have no idea why so many people hated it.

Its sad that Bioware would even consider changing the ending of one of the best story driven game series in the last 20 years.

I'm glad the game didn't get the typical hollywood ending people expected, where the hero survives and everything is good, i picked the kill synthetics ending and i loved the outcome, starting a new game now to see the other outcome.

I don't get why people are so sad over this. Why are people acting like they're suppsoed to be the 'defender of art' ?

Art is supposed to be evolving, and this proves to be a step towards the evolution of interaction ebtween audience and creator. Those who are opposed are just scared.

See what good that did to the music industry?

Again, no one is paying attention to those signing the petition or the 'retake mass effect' group.

PEOPLE DO YOUR RESEARCH! PLEASE!

If anything, what they're saying is that the current ending should be part of a set of other endings.

The problem lies in the fact that the series; being promised all along, and encouragement from Bioware themselves; that the series is the players' story!

Does Bioware still write the story, and ultimately decide what happens? Yes, of course!

But they promised gameplay and story which doesn't railroad you to a pre-determined conclusion; as they always said that it would reflect what your character-type is.

And they at least should have allowed for a set of differing (colours DO NOT count as 'different'!) conclusions.

The ending, is exactly a reverse of what they have been trying to encourage throughout the series.

I cannot stress enough how much people need to research the movement itself.

I think it is ignorant to dismiss it simply as entitled, angry gamers; hating and wanting to destroy the series (and gaming/art itsself, apparently).

Which actually couldn't be further from the truth.

Think what you must of the ending, but the heart and soul, and intent of the 'Retake Mass Effect' has nothing to do with angry fanboys.

The hate comes from many many declarations that everything that happened in the ending was promised not to be, the ending was nothing it was LITERALLY promised consistently whenever Bioware spoke about the game they stated the A, B and C crap wouldn't exist and your decision would have a massive effect. Your decisions had zero effect on the game, NOTHING, absolutely nothing you did had ANY effect. Every decision, every outcome was identical with the exception of an explosions colour... EVERY part of the ending was filled with holes with none actually being filled unless destroying what the first and to a degree the second built up the reapers to be. Nothing, NOTHING you did had any meaning, nothing you did had the slightest effect, everything you did was worthless, that could have actually made a great ending but they messed that up also. I hate the ending and I KNEW Shepard would most likely die regardless, his death has ZERO to do with why people hated the ending. It was sloppy and offered not the slightest bit of closure which Bioware PROMISED outright everyone would get.

Thing is that it did somewhat.

Your choices didn't completely alter but they did somewhat. Like the collector base from ME2 playing into the ending of ME3. I played mine from a fresh start because I had my ME 1 and 2 files on Xbox. So I felt like I missed out some because you can sometimes get sides to coincide together if you made right choices in 2. Like Quarians and Geth working together instead of the white and black decision that I was give. Here is a break down of the ending and based on the readiness mostly. But some of the decisions would factor into you ending. But true they didn't have a major effect. Here is the link to the possible endings and what factors into getting those endings. Because if you look there is a way to kill the synthetics and Sheppard and the human race lives.

Overall I wasn't really pissed about the ending. It was just the fact of the Normandy crash lands they step out and game over. Just wish there would have been a little more closure with the characters mostly. And possibly a little closure on what goes on in the galaxy post Reaper attack. Nothing that made me say WTF was that. More of just wanting a little more than the vague ending that I got.

Javik has a ton of things to say and all which are fascinating. I found him to be far more interesting then any character in the Mass Effect universe. I also laughed at his quote "Heh, they used to eat flies" and "I'm fighting along side a human who used to live in caves". There was also the part when you try to save Eve - Wrex says that he prefers his Salarians well done only for Javik to concur saying "He's right.. They were a delicacy back in my cycle". The Salarian's expression was priceless. Lol. Finally the things he said in Thessia were incredible, especially the part about how they got most of their tech from(It was from a civilization before them, most likely the ones who perished fighting the reapers a hundred thousand years back).

Even as a soldier, he was wiser then anyone else around him. Just imagine how great their scholars and scientists were.

Oh and the lead story designer who created the universe didn't work on the Story for Mass Effect 3. He quit after Mass Effect 2. I can't imagine how much greater the game would of been if written by his hand.

I know. One of the best characters to have in terms of dialogue, in the series. I wish there was a downloadable codex app for android.

I want Karpyshyn to make more books, or more comics (whoever writes them). Some prequels would be awesome (i.e. Prothean times, or even ones from before that!

Probably the best explanation as to why the ending is the way it is - and why Bioware is so open to doing something about it.

I actually enjoyed the multiplayer for ME3, was thinking that it was just something added on at the last minute. Was hooked, played 5 hours straight Saturday night and I usually never play multiplayer on any game.

The theory is false.. I've seen the script. Unless bioware makes it real in their dlc.. which they probably will given how much fan feedback they put into action. T_T
