OXM UK: 9/10 - As a series reboot this is perfectly acceptable, but it's the new and innovative online aspects that make SSX feel absolutely superb. Packed to the brim with clever ideas, SSX is a truly unmissable surprise. While most other online modes feel like painting-by-numbers, SSX shrugs and tries something refreshingly different. This isn't just brave - it's brilliant.
IGN: 9.0 - SSX is the video game this generation has been missing. The feeble attempts of other, lesser snowboarding games to capture the adrenaline fueled excitement of SSX don't compare at all. This is what happens when you don't just put the game out every year, but spend your time crafting it, creating the ultimate experience. SSX redefines snowboarding games, raises the bar for the genre, then backflips over it.
G4TV: 4.5/5 - EA Sports has itself one expertly designed and well put together game with SSX. The huge, multi-path runs and silky smooth controls more than offset any minor stumbles.
GameTrailers: 8.7 - SSX is a great snowboarding game that has its priorities in the right place. From the seamless online options that encourage you to compete to the graphics engine that ensures a level playing field, the entire game has been built to maximize play. The result is a game that's just flat-out fun. The more interesting moments tend to be fleeting and the single-player is anemic, but it's a great mix of old and new that will satisfy both fans of the series and first-time rippers.
Destructoid: 8.5 - Between character leveling, equipment, hundreds of drops, and rivalries with friends, SSX is going to provide months of entertainment for most of us. It might have been a long wait, but it was well worth it.
VideoGamer: 8/10 - A combination of innovations make SSX one of the most forward thinking games in recent times. The snowboarding itself is solid, if lacking some of the skill required in previous titles, but it's everything surrounding it - RiderNet, Geo Tags and Harmony - that make the game such an involving experience. Its connected features take the genre to the logical next step, setting the benchmark for future extreme sports titles to follow. If you're even slightly competitive, SSX will drag you down its slopes with an iron grip.
GameInformer: 7.75 - SSX feels great when it's focused on the crazy tricks and big air that the series is known for, but too many tracks have cheap death traps and annoying equipment requirements.
Inc Gamers: 8/10 - SSX is a diverse and challenging title that evolves the franchise brilliantly by placing an emphasis on survival. A welcome return
The Verge: 9/10 - SSX does an inspired job reimagining the past. And though the undoubtedly wacky characters and wub wub music will get old in time, months, maybe years from now, I will still want to be just a little bit better than everyone else on my friends list. In that way, SSX is nearly future-proof - and nearly perfect.
TheSixthAxis: 8/10 - SSX is a wonderfully fun game. It successfully captures the spirit of the earliest games in the series but without feeling dated. This generation of consoles has suffered slightly from an understocked catalogue of games that revel in their over-the-top nature and SSX is a perfect remedy for that. If this is what happens when you rest a franchise for a few years then I am perfectly happy to forgive EA for those lean years they left us without a new sequel.
Edge: 5/10 - In looking outside itself for inspiration, SSX has found a worthy infrastructure to establish an online community and culture. But this same approach has found the brand veering away from some of the fun and fireworks of yesteryear, leaving its more seductive silly side out in the cold.
NowGamer: 5.2 - A cheap and nasty remake that not only manages to misinterpret the essence of the SSX series, but introduce a host of concepts entirely ill-suited to the genre in which it operates. A poor experience, for newcomers and veterans alike.

I had this preorderred then tried the demo and didn't like it. Today I watched the IGN review and found out there wasn't any real time multiplayer. Only some online time recorder thing.
Multiplayer was one of the only reasons I was wanting this game.....so this is a massive deal breaker for me.

Edge come off as the hipsters of gaming to me. They always think they're too good for anything. I pity their ignorance

I don't see how someone can take them seriously.

Well, the majority of reviews gave high ratings, so I have high hopes for this game.

Curse Walmart.com and their Kaori pre-order bonus, because now it'll be a week into March before I receive my copy. I want to try this game for myself.
Shut up and play games

Still need to try the demo out, but G4TV gave it 4.5 so it should be pretty good.

I can tell you right now that this game is the easiest SSX game to date. It seems damn near every trick lands perfectly. SSX Tricky was not easy and you had to adjust for everything to stick your landings.
The graphics are not really an improvement over the last gen SSX either which sort of surprised me. The game is still a lot of fun though.

I agree. Sadly I see people across internet gaming forums that adopt the same mentality. Its almost like they play games constantly looking for flaws that they can nitpick rather than playing the game for enjoyment. Nowadays its "hip" to look at the glass as half empty under the guise of being a "discerning gamer."

Game is fun. Will try the Classic controls for a bit, because the analog controls get a bit unwieldly for me.
I prefer the closed, but insanely awesmely designed levels of the original SSX though. Might just need to spend some more time learning these mountains.
Anyone want to add me as a friend, feel free : sirhawker on psn!

I rented it today and so far I'd give it a 7.5. Makes for a good weekend rental. Saving my money for ME3 and The Show next week.
