Well yeah. Start finding a new style already dammit!.

This thread isn't exclusive to just new designers. It's for all of us to come up with new ideas for our sigs as well. Although the brushes do seem to work only for GIMP?. Not sure but everything else can be used for Photoshop.

GIMP is a great alternative, but I'd rather jam forks in my eyes than use it over Photoshop.

I need help. I started this with such good intentions. I found a tutorial and thought "oh this doesn't look too bad I think I can do this." Well this...ugly, terrible THING looks nothing like the tut. I had thought that this wouldn't be that hard but apparently it is.

Nice right? You get this cool liquid effect going on. What I had intended to do was make it look like Carnage was literally dripping onto the floor. He's so liquid like if that makes any sense. I played with the setting so much and I could NOT get this to look nice at all. It kind of pisses me off actually that I couldn't get mine to look even remotely like the tuts.

I need some help with text. I don't know where to put the file when I find a text I like in photoshop. I go to: program files/common files/adobe. The couple of things I've looked at have said just put it in the Font's folder. Problem is there isn't one lol. There's FontsRecommended and FontsRequired folders. Until I can figure something out I'm stuck with the standard crappy text in photoshop. Help please?

OK .. here is what u need to know .. there is now way to add fonts to photoshop casue photoshop already takes the fonts from the windows Font Folder ..
here is what i think .. try one of these :
1. if u copied the fonts to the font folder and photoshop was already running .. turn off photoshop and restart.
2. the problem could that u copied the fonts to the font folder .. try installing them .. not copying them .. by doing the following :
1. press Start > Control Panel
2. Look for the FOnts Icon .. double click on it
3. File > install new font
4. Locate the folder we created ..
5. when u select the folder the screen will start reading the fonts.
6. Press on Select All
7. Press OK .. Vwala .. u have your new fonts on your PC/UPSET THE ESTABLISHED ORDER AND EVERYTHING BECOMES CHAOS\

I actually couldn't find an option to add a new font from the control panel. I ended up just dragging and dropping the file in. Works ok now. Thanks kwes!

Here's a simple smudging tip for new designers.
First, I downloaded this image.
http://images.wikia.com/godofwar/ima...ng_concept.jpg
I cropped the tower and as much of the gray area above then scaled it to size for a 500x200 canvas to get this.

Next up was the set up I made here
Brush: Vine
Scale: 70-100
Spacing: 1.0
What you do from here is drag the brush around your stock image and start smudging in an up and down motion. But that's just my recommendation. You can smudge however you want!. This is the result I got.

After this I pasted the same scaled image I used(The Kratos one) and anchored it a bit to the lower right side of the image. I followed the same smudging procedure and set it's layer mode to multiply.

Then I used a black round brush and brushed a bit on the bottom and Krato's left shoulder. What I did next was set the brushes spacing to 30.0 and using the same vine brush, I gently brushed it around to give it this splattering effect. Finally I went back to Layers and chose the very first stock I used for this sig and started smudging the red colored tattoo Kratos has, brushing it upwards to give the splatter effect a bloody color.

Then just add text, sharpen it, add a border and you're done!. A simple sig with hardly any effort to make!.

Hope that helps guys.

That has to be the simplest yet most effective way of explaining smudging, and it can easily be seen how to use in more advanced signatures aswell.
Well done Fahbre!

Not very good at working with images (Hell, "not very good" at working with anything). Decided to keep this simple and clean.

Simple clean and nice gangsta.
The one I have right now is just a bunch of smudging, not that it looks that great but yeah know it's simple to make.

I apologize for the late reply.
Are you referring to something like this?.

If so I just pasted the Assassin stock first. Pasted the second stock second and changed it's layer mode to adjust it in the right place. Then I began to erase the parts I don't want with a fuzzy soft round brush and changed it's layer mode back to Normal. After that I just duplicated the layer and sharpened the first stock. There are more pro-ish methods but I don't know them or they take longer(Like cropping an image takes time, but I'm too lazy to do that!). You can also go to PlanetRenders for already cropped images. Hope that helps.
