PS VITA Near App

Hey got my vita on launch day and opened up the app Near which is quite interesting now every time I open this up it seems to be going up by 5! no more no less so find this a bit funny.

What is everyone else seeing?

On launch-day it was about 10 people playing near me (3km) and the next day about 30 and the next about 50 people. Now one week later it's up to 130 players in a 3km from me. It's really cool that you can check the history

I wish Near worked with WiFi. I don't have a Vita yet, but I don't think I'm gonna want the 3G one, and I still want to do GPS and stuff like Near. GPS shouldn't require INTERNET at all, but it's obviously a way of forcing people to buy 3G.

I read it does work, but you have to register your Mac address with Skyhook and wait a week or so...don't know if it's true or not though. As soon as Sony sees 3G not selling like they wish, they'll have to patch WiFi into Near.

Well, GPS requires a GPS chip, which the wifi version doesn't have. Location Data can be obtained with wifi though.

How much is it a month for the data plan for the 3G Vita? Trying to figure out which one I want, WifI or 3G/WiFi. Thanks guys!!

That is strange because my cousin has the Wifi only version and Near works fine on there.

I have the 3G/Wifi. I cut my 3G off but Near still works.


Edit: Just saw that Fear said that location data can be obtained over WiFi so it should work fine.

yeah, I got the Wifi model, there is 34 people in my area, and its reporting my street name, so works well

The cheapest one lol. I've had it since launch and haven't even broken 5MB yet.
