    Leap year bug...

Is this still going to happen to those that have the older model?

We had our one today in NZ. I wonder if it affected anyone?

Actually never mind, it wasnt that it was a leap year, it was that it wasnt a leap year.

It's only the phats, yes. And IIRC they said they couldn't fix it through an update since its something in the hardware.

Looks like they did address it.

It certainly looks like something they can fix easily once the time comes.
    My backlog.

Oh well that's good. I've got a slim now though so it wouldnt effect me anyway and by the time its due to happen again the Slim will be ~$200 anyway.

It was the day we had the most people ever on here, LOL, if I recall correctly.
    It certainly seemed that way.
No one could play their PS3 online.

    Actually reading that statement..

“We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.
Just means they waited a day, and it fixed itself.
So it doesnt look like they fixed it, but I'm sure they have a workaround in place.

Oh well I guess we will hear if its fixed in 2014

If it does happen ever again Surely manually changing the date will fix it any way.

It hink a lot of people tried that to no avail.

It's something to do with the console's internal clock; and not the system/xmb clock.
    My backlog.

Yep its the internal clock, which is why people originally thought it couldn't be addressed.

Nothing you can do except trade it in for a Slim (which I'd recommend doing anyway since they're much more reliable).

That bug sucked big time. It was a few days after Heavy Rain came out. I still remember it like yesterday. Everyone thought the world was ending.
