Assassin's Creed 3 'the last of the triple-A dinosaurs'
Creative director says "monster" productions are dying out
Assassin's Creed 3 creative director Alex Hutchinson has described the latest game in the series as one of the last of the giant triple-A "dinosaurs".
Approximately 600 Ubisoft Montreal staff have worked on the project, supported by numerous other Ubi studios including Quebec City, Bucharest and Singapore, and Hutchinson told the latest issue of Edge that this type of massive production is a dying breed.
"We're the last of the dinosaurs. We're still the monster triple-A game with very large teams [and] multiple studios helping out on different bits. There are fewer and fewer of these games being made, especially as the middle has fallen out," he said.
"We really felt like this was a rare opportunity We had an experienced team, who had worked on the franchise for a while; we had the full backing of Ubisoft to make something huge; we had almost three years to do it, which is a rarity these days; the tech and the hardware platforms were both mature, which allowed us to start running instead of building base features; and the installed user base for all platforms is massive.
"Many of these factors are about to change, by choice of circumstance," Hutchinson added, "so a lot of us truly believed this was a once in a career opportunity."
Cliff Bleszinski is another to express the belief that we'll see fewer blockbuster releases each year once the next generation of consoles arrives, suggesting last December that the cost of developing major games on new hardware could prove too prohibitive for all but the biggest names in the industry.
Ubisoft has confirmed an Assassin's Creed 3 release date of October 31 on PS3 and Xbox 360, with a PC release to follow on November 23. A Wii U version will be available at the console's launch.

The whole "death of the triple-A games" talk is a bunch of crap. Just because a couple development studios decided to make free-to-play games, you have people thinking that everyone else in the industry will follow suit.
It's cheaper, sure, but rarely do any of them offer fun and exciting single-player campaigns. Multiplayer is just the same old routine with a different coat of paint, paying a couple dollars to play dress-up with your avatar.Last edited by Blacksite; 09-05-2012 at 18:38.

Some new concept art. Connor's Mohawk armor:

Looks kind of silly, in my opinion.Last edited by Blacksite; 09-05-2012 at 19:17.

It's just a concept remember that it can be subject to change at any moment so that may not be the finalized appearance in game, I for one think it looks amazing as a full out Native armor for Connor and is fitting for who he is.

I love it. Ties in well with his heritage. I hope we get this armor as an option.

Yeah, that's fine. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I couldn't see Connor wearing this in, say, the Boston demo. It seems more practical when he's moving around in the snow or jumping through the trees.
And while it ties in well with his heritage it's not something he would wear while fighting for either side, which is why I like his current design more.Last edited by Blacksite; 09-05-2012 at 22:40.

Dont think anyone mentioned this but Ubisoft launched a website not long ago to tie in with the timeline of the Asssassin`s Creed series leading up to AC3s release and to serve as a central hub for most of the information regarding Assassin`s Creed 3`the link is down below

Nicely edited to the song, just what I would expect from Ubisoft.
Need to finish Brotherhood and get through Revelations before the end of October.
Trophy-licious!

That was the first I've heard of it, thanks for the link. Interesting site, I'll add it to my resource list along with this thread and some other sites I've been frequenting.
I rarely spend so much time checking out media and info for games that aren't even out yet. I must be more hyped than I realized. I feel like a fanboy and I just don't care!

I really enjoyed this 4 part series. It was hugely informative and it was really good to finally see more on Conner himself. Overall I give the series an A for giving good info and for instilling a sense of "OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD" in me.

So I was scouring the ACwiki when I found the alleged uplay rewards, one of them I've seen an image for so they seem to be legit:
Actions
Mystery Guest: Complete Sequence 1 & 2. (10U)
Tea is for Englishmen: Complete Sequence 6. (20U)
The Sum of Truth: Complete Sequence 12. (30U)
Abstergo Entertainment: Reach level 20 in the multiplayer mode. (40U)
Rewards
Assassin's Creed III Theme (10U)
The Life Scratcher Pack: Increases the capacity of Connor's tool pouches, and unlocks exclusive Multiplayer Profile items. (20U)
Ezio's outfit. (30U)
The Renegade Pack: Unlocks the Night Stalker's Renegade costume and additional Profile items. (40U)
Edit: Also found this, apparantly its the connection rewards you get for linking up AC3 from the PS3 and Liberation on the Vita, no words on what bonuses AC3 will get but at least we know what Liberations gets.

Interesting, i wonder if that was a hint of the new soundtrack. Real shame Jesper Kyd didn't return, the soundtrack for II was fantastic.

I have to say, after reading the info and watching the videos in this thread, that I am completely stoked to play this game. I will definitely be getting this on day one!
"When I was 12, I milked my eel into a pot of turtle stew. I flogged the one-eyed snake, I skinned my sausage. I made the bald man cry into the turtle stew, which I believe my sister ate. At least I hope she did."
