Why would anybody be in a hurry? Last I saw they completely nurfed Windows 8...looks like a tablet interface. Not for a mouse.
Trophy-licious!

Try it and find out.
Well I do not like this "metro UI" if I can totally bypass it it might be worth while but to use like this al the time with mosue is going to annoy people.
Pain in the arse to install, have to have a windows live account and when logging in it uses stupid captcha crap.
No "start" button
The windows key switches between Metro UI and Desktop UI
Finding simple things like control panel is a pain in the arse.
This website runs liek shit without adblock or noscript on windows8

Yeah it takes a little bit of getting used to. The biggest thing was to remember to use the windows key for fast switching
. The metro apps are supposed to suspend by themselves, kind of like apps in a phone or tablet. The only way to force close them is to use task manager. The other normal programs and applications, like office or firefox, close like normal.

WTF MS? We're using PCs here not fucking phones. Hoping this bombs like Vista and they get back on track with Windows 9. Seems I am starting to leap frog OS from them. XP > 7 > 9

I realised that Alt+F4 still works to quit apps so I use that.
It seems liek 2 OS mashed together very badly at the moment.
We should eb able to use Metro UI without ever entering "normal desktop" and vice versa btu at the moment so many instances require us to use both.

Well to be fair, its going to be on tablets too! It didn't seem slow at least on a virtual machine. I think they still need to fix a lot for normal mouse stuff, although my largest complaints from using the developer preview having to do with using the mouse seems to have been addressed.
ahhh that would work too.

Windows 8 terrible!!!!!! This is not for a pc at all. Microsoft is screwing up again.
-

Yea,
I installed in as a Virtual Machine and it run smoothly. Booted up, shutdown and everything ran a lot faster than my virtual XP box. Actually ran a lot better than XP did for me.
Not a fan of the metro UI at all. Very awkward to use. More learning curve with this one than necessary I think.

It looks sinfully awful. I'll ride the glory of Windows 7 (best operating system ever) until MS gets their mind right and releases Windows 9.

What it needs is someone kind of built in API for swipe like motions for a mouse. I expect some flavor of kinect to function natively as well. I mean, it basically has the xbox 360 video service built in. It's all about making the feel of it not feel awkard, as Tyrannicide hints at.

It's a mobile OS with the desktop as an afterthought. The backend of 7 is still there, but the start menu is not. You can fudge around in the command window to restore some functionality, but so far, it's been a real annoyance to use. I'd rather jam crazy straws into my eye sockets than use this on a daily basis. I'm not impressed so far.

Much what I expected from what I've seen of it so far. It really does just look like a touch screen os. Like said before, why have one unified os that works for some, but not for others. This is probably fine for a touch screen device, but it doesn't work for an ordinary pc / laptop.... this could just be used for tablet devices while everything not touch screen could continue to use win 7. ( Obviously, that's still a choice for those with computers already... but once officially released any new pc / laptop etc will be bundled with win 8 )

Is everyone going to act oblivious to the fact that you can still use the desktop interface of Windows 8 just as all past itineraries have?? You don't have to use this Metro GUI, bras.

This. And just using the normal desktop is a pain in the ass and requires a lot of fudging. It isn't even remotely the same feel or productivity as it wasn't designed to be used that way. People that haven't used it yet are often the ones toting the desktop usage of this horrid OS.

Defiantly sticking to windows 7, hope everyone else does too, especially game developers!
