Game soundtracks get very little attention compared to graphics for example, i thought it would be cool to get a discussion going on about soundtracks.
My favorite game sound tracks of the top of my head are:
Contra for the NES
Little Big Adventure 1+2 for the PC
Diablo 2 for the PC
Which sound tracks have become your favorites?

Assassin's Creed II and Bastion had fantastic soundtracks, but i wouldn't say they were under-rated. Bastion won the Best Score and Best Original Song on Spike Video Game Awards and a bunch of other ones. MW2 ended up quite generic, despite Zimmer being the composer.

Kingdom Hearts and MGS always have great soundtracks

We all know that the MGS franchise may have the best soundtracks but in my opinion another series that has a great soundtrack but isn't really talked about is the Armored Core franchise. That franchise has awesome soundtracks.

Wooooah! I totally remember that game Little Big Adventure! That was amazing.
And my favourite soundtrack definitely has to be from the Monkey Island series. But music is an important part of the game for me being heavily involved with music creation (composition and recording) and reading the thread about playing games on mute, I was like.... you can't do that... people have spent lots of time on creating the music to suit these moments and provoke emotion... :'(

Jet Grind Radio is my favorite. It is still one of my favorite games on the Dreamcast largely because of the catchy soundtrack. I hope Sega is able to retain the OST on the upcoming the SEN/XBLA version.
Some other honorable mentions:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
MGS (all of them)
GTA Vice City
The Legend of Zelda OOT
Mass Effect 2Last edited by PhillyPhreak; 03-05-2012 at 02:12.

Music is just as important, if not that more, than visuals. The immersion created by music is an undeniably compelling factor to a game's enjoyability.

inFamous 2 and Skyrim have amazing soundtracks. The rogue camp theme (Tristram theme is better) is amazing. Also:

I always find that music off game in the master system, NES, SNES & mega drive (genesis) era sounds cool that most modern stuff to this day I like music from the old Sonic games like Ice Cap zone off Sonic 3 and all that they just sound really funky with the MIDI sound.
Some
Sonic 3's Ice Cap Zone Act 1
Sonic 2's Mystic Cave Zone Act 1
One Winged Angel - FFVII
Jenova SYNTHESIS - FFVII
Lunatic Pandora - FFVIII
