Seems incredibly early, but what the hell, it's still early (release in 2013).

I'm not sure, probably not? Hopefully with Vita you could at least use ad hoc multiplayer to play with friends.
Oh, and PSO2 will have cross-platform play (and you can also use the same character on both PC & Vita). They are also hoping to bring PSO2 to home consoles, though Vita & PC are the only platforms they will confirm at the moment.

Looks good, I actually can't wait to check this out. I hope it's out in the West not long after
My guess is that it probably won't be F2P, at first

Agh, not only will it not be F2P, it's also online only. Ah well, there goes that, I won't be getting this. I liked having the option of playing Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II when my big brother or friend couldn't come to play it. Don't really like to be forced to play multiplayer, even if multiplayer is the biggest focus of said game.

That's strange. I was pretty sure the original Phantasy Star Online had an offline mode. Oh well. So far, there aren't any titles on the PlayStation Vita that interest me. I was hoping this one would change that.

PSO Episode 1, Episode 2 had offline 2-4 player split screen multiplayer
Episode 3 had a single player campaign and online multiplayer only I believe. It went all Yu Gi Oh-is card battle instead of real time battles.
Episode 4 had just the single player campaign and online multiplayer aswell, but went back to the real time battles (Thank GAWD).
I miss Episode 1 and 2. I would LOVE to get some split screen PSO2 goodness going like back in the day on the Dreamcast and Gamecube, BUT I want it on my PS# not a portable...... Crossplatform would be nice but give it to me on my home console damn it....
I liked Online when it was free on the Dreamcast. Never played online once they started charging you to play after the DC died. My FAV game on the Gamecube. Split screen ALLDAY!!!!!

PCs are very much like Air Conditioners.
They both become utterly useless once you start to open up Windows....
