Like system = positive re-enforcement of productive members.
Dislike system = negative trolling when you ain't got shit to say.
I bet there would be some people bitching and complaining if I disliked all the post sof theirs that I actually disliked.

i dont need to. its obvious.
and as for the smiley comment - if i posted a negative smiley consistantly after one particular poster in a thread, without explanation, i would be infracted. theres little difference except people don't do it so theres no issue.
exactly. people talk about being mature enough to accept that someone dislikes your post, but in reality its the 'dislikers' that repeatedly dislike one member's posts in a thread, which seemingly spreads elsewhere in the forum, that need to grow up. sure, dislike one comment, but every comment by that individual? we knew you disagreed after the first post, we don't need to know your opinion every time...
i just believe that this will cause issues in the future once people get tired of seeing the same old downward thumb from the same old users that haven't got anything to sayLast edited by J3ff3; 03-13-2012 at 14:35.

I see where you're coming from, J3ff3. But honestly, I don't think it's caused many problems at all, people have been pretty good with it. Some occasions where serial-dislikes occur, but...who cares? :S It's probably better that way than having 2 members squabble in words with eachother in the thread, which ultimately results in warnings/infractions and a derailed thread

I don't think there's been a big stink about it yet, but I've already had someone troll and get penalized for using the dislike system. I can guarantee you that if I used it like it's supposed to be used; on posts that I don't like, you'll have at least five members complaining.
There's absolutely no logical reason to have the system in place. Who the fuck cares if you don't like my post? Have something to say about it, post up bro... if not, move on to something that does interest you. That's how I feel about it. We already had a debate about the feature when it was first put it, and one persons opinion over ranked EVERYONE else so I don't even think its worth the time to discuss it any further.

Maybe i just haven't been in the same threads but i never saw a thread were people "disliked" each other back and forth!?
The top 5 users gave 60 to 30 "dislikes" - that ten times less then the top 5 "likes".
I'd understand you if there really was a constant "dislike fight" going on in the threads but thats not the case imo.

WHY does it matter that you have to show that you disagree with someone's opinion? I'd rather know why someone dislikes the fact that I didn't find a video that entertaining. Otherwise, I don't give a fuck why you [not YOU] dislike what I have to say; I'd rather not have a little "dislike" hanging on my posts if you [not YOU lol] can't muster the balls to explain why you dislike that I don't like something, or why you dislike that I do like something.

Yes, you can have the Likes only. It personally doesn't annoy me though. I just find the feature extremely arbitrary and added just for the sake of adding it. It doesn't do anything for the forums in a positive light. I mean, really. The staff said it all a while back when people were asking for a negative rep button. They said that wouldn't be fair to negatively respond to posts in that manner because people would do it out of spite. Ya know.. the same way the "dislike" feature is being used. Might as well add a spank, spin, and puke button. They'd serve just as much purpose as the dislike button does.
Whatever though.Last edited by F34R; 03-13-2012 at 17:27.

Well if someone says he's against abortions because they are against the will of god i'd like to be able to express disapproval without having to attack someones believes more directly.
That's just one example of a topic that i would'nt want to get involved in, nothing good would come of it anyway.

Really? You've done a boatload of them on my posts. Sometimes several times in the same thread. I cant even use the feature (not that I would bother) so I know I've never done it to you. It doesn't bother me though as I just find it amusing and childish. However I do agree with F34R that its just another way to troll somebody.

Don't really care for the feature I'd never dislike someone's post I'll rather flat out say it to your face better than just clicking a button

its becoming less and less amusing as time goes by. this place is full of enough immaturity as it is, with silly brand loyalty and tunnel vision.
and i'm sorry Soldier95b, but saying "i only do it because other people do it to me" really just backs up my point that it is used as an immature weapon to troll users. if the feature brought any value to the forum you'd use it regardlessGot YLOD? In the UK? I'll buy it off you.
