There's 2 GAME stores and a Gamestation all within 200m of each other where I live...a bit overkill!
I preferred Gamestation, the staff actually seemed like gamers whereas in GAME they didn't seem interested.
I haven't shopped in any of them for quite some time, but I do have memories going back to the Amiga days in GAME so in that way I will be sad to see them go.

I have loved going to GAME and talking to the staff... Also i feel they are great and yes they want you to just buy stuff. But they are cool none the less

Oh. Not all GAME stores are like that
trust me
I'm just grateful I didn't buy the overpriced protection insurance thing for my Gears themed 360 last fall. The nerd behind the till was telling me Microsoft will fuck me up the bum and give me back a matte black 360 if I ever send them in my Gears 360 to repair, if anything ever went wrong. And that I could trust GAME to make sure I get a Gears 360 back
Ahh. Sucks for those that lost their jobs

Well, i managed to spend my gift card at game.I really struggled to find anything to spend it on! Bought Alan Wake and Homefront on the 360, and Operation Flashpoint RR on the PS3.
On my way out there was an old couple in the process of buying a used 360 for their sick grandson. Told them it had a years warranty. I turned round and threw a spanner in the works, and told the old couple that Game were in administration and the warranty wasnt worth shit!
I wonder if they still bought it
FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU game!

That's some good karma Topgun, well done for sticking it to them.
There's no excuse for taking advantage of people like that.

I was planning to go today after gym, but I was too tired - Glad I didn't bother in the end lol. I reckon any of the super cheap things would've been bagged by the staff
Don't think it would have mattered anyway. They take money out when they send you the game, no? Unless you paid for it in full at the store

Its the same for GAME in Australia too (Not the closure) but come launch day of a psp title and chances are they didn't even order one copy. The copies of games they do order tho are quite expensive. They can have nice sales but again limited new stock.
With everything going digital special dlc codes and such the second hand market isnt the same as it used to be and game aparently invested big in that.

Hmmm, wonder if Gamestation will be affected. They're the same company, after all.

In regards to not having PSP games and limited new stock, it's up to individuals to pre order the games they want. Why? Because the PSP is hardly popular at all here, and if they got in every game 90% of it would not sell at all so stock would sit around for months and months before being sent back to the warehouse.
Big retailers like JB can afford to do this coz they are so huge and have big stores

the end of this. It will turn out that they will go online and you will have to buy that way only

My best memories of GAME was going to their midnight launches for the PSP and PS3, our local staff took good care of the crowd.
Trophy-licious!
