Yes you have the option to use original and new voice overs. I chose the new voice overs and they are pretty good. But I am having a terrible time getting in to Silent Hill 2. The game is sooooooooooooooooooooo boring compared to todays games. The fog is seriously annoying the hell out of me to. I just do not remember the game being this boring.

I will try out Silent Hill 3 today and see if that is any better. Plus the graphics really do not look very different. There is a fuzzy overlay now which gives the game a grainy look.

The video keefy posted may be one of the worst examples you could capture for a game lol. The video is only showing the darkest areas and you can not see the grainy overlay in that video.

Silent Hill 2 is more psycological than action packed t was the music that made it great in my opinion it still sends shivers down my spine and make my hair stand on end.
The grain filter was always in silent hill 2.

Need to buy a PS3 again before I can play these though

I do not remember seeing this much grain though. Maybe I was playing the game too late and I was tired. I was literally fighting to keep my eyes open playing the game. It is just so incredibly slow. Maybe I am still pissed off that Silent Hill 4 was not included in the collection lol.

I think that is a huge difference. Even if it is a bit grainy, it's worth it for all the extra detail. The fact you can choose the old and new voices is simply badass. I will probably grab this down the line.

It is not a bad game. It is exactly what it was when we first enjoyed it. I wish it really did look like those pictures though. All those pictures are touched up and removed the grain.

Silent Hill 4 was decent and the last PS2/Xbox title in the series that I remember playing. They likely didn't include the original Silent Hill though because of how difficult it would be to do the HD translation. It would explain why the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection didn't include the original Metal Gear Solid.

I'm playing SH2 ATM. Still in the first apt. Building. I always loved silent hill 2 and never played silent hill 3 so this was definitely a day one buy. I'm playing with the new voice over. I remember the old voice acting being pretty terrible.

The 10star ranking for SH2 is a huge pain in the ass (for the green hyperspray) so i'm not going to get this "collection" right now.
I never liked the ranking system for SH, it just doesn't fit my playstyle and i don't want to rush through the game in 3 hours

Maybe later this year, atm i just don't have the nerves.

It's wasn't a lazy port to begin with, people just didn't like what was being done, in short they wanted a straight port
People are still annoyed this collection is getting high scores and praises.

I thought the port was good, but the audio slowdown and framerate drop for Silent Hill 3 turned me off. Hopefully, that will get patched soon. As for Silent Hill 2...ah, I am going to sound extremely bias since it's my favorite game of all time, those fond high school memories still linger. I am so going to Plat' Silent Hill 2, so wish me luck!

What visual effect? I have 2 version of both 2 & 3 plus the HD collection, there is no difference other then it running in HD & having full screen cutscenes, and if you are referring to those screens on the net which had things missing, they aren't missing
The only thing missing is the dream in MGS3

Edit, after buying the SHHDcollection and do see the problem, framerate is sluggish outdoors and the fog is downscaled, the grain effect although present doesn't even look like it's there, but overall the games are still excellent and do benefit from the HD treatment, Silent Hill 3 is godly, seriously how did they do it, and compared to horror games these days, it just shows devs ain't got a clue, the collection does need fixing, Surround sound is missing from the UK version and is absent after the US update and it does need addressing, but it's still a collection of 2 of the best games ever released, its a shame SH4 is missing from this collection, although flawed it was a good game and the soundtrack was excellent too
